    Default PowerPlasma 80 Question

I have had the PowerPlasma 60 for a year or so, and am pretty happy with it. I went with the 60 instead of the 80 because for some reason I thought the 80 was a three phase unit. I do not have three phase power in my garage so I went with the 60. I have a friend who was looking at buying a Plasma so I loaned him mine. Now I have an opporunity to sell it to him and am considering doing so. I am running a 50 amp breaker, on my power. Looking for any thoughts on the upgrade, anyone using an 80 currently?

I would only run the PP80 on 3 phase myself. I have a PP60, I have owned 50/60/70. Going back to a PP70, but that will be the limit for me. 80 and 100 like 3 phase a lot better.

The PP50 is a slick little unit if you like the smaller size but almost all the power.

80 3 phase only in Canada. 1 phase here though some have been ordered 1 and 3 phase (dual phase) here. Not sure what is currently available and in stock on that , but 1 phase will get you by...but you're going to need 70 amps.

That was my point, if I did not have 3 phase I would not run the PP80 due to the current required to run it. PP70 is the larger unless I had 3 phase..

I have the 80 and running on 50 amps single phase is no problem,,,just remember the rule of thumb for plasma's,,the power in will only give you 10 more amps of plasma than the breaker,,,to get 80 amps plasma you need a 70 amp breaker, ,,,for 70 amps of plasma you need a 60 amp breaker and so forth,,Nothing wrong with having a bigger plasma,,,cause some days I may hook it up to the 3phase or maybe just install a 70 amp breaker on the short run welding plug...the welding plug closest to the breaker box ( 3 feet away) has a 60 amp breaker on it,,,so I can pull 70 amps on my PP80
