Thread: Micro 185 foot pedal problems.

  1. Default Micro 185 foot pedal problems.

Got my 185 yesterday, set it up this morning and the pedal does not activate the gas valve. Amperage ramps up and down but no gas. It works fine on the panel setting while using the torch. But when i move the switch to pedal, No gas. I did notice the strain relief was not on the insulation of the wires but on the wires themself. Any thoughts?

There is a micro switch in teh pedal itself that the pedal hits to trigger teh gas solenoid and let teh welder "know" you want to weld...might not be making contact for some reason.

Does the high frequency start trigger properly with the pedal?
    Everlast 200DX
    Everlast PT185
Shoptask 3-in-1 (not currently in my garage, but I own it...)

Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

NO. High freq does not start. Also I just checked and when I step on the pedal and the amperage comes up on the LED, I can not lift arc or scratch an arc either.

Sounds like the micro switch in the pedal. It's easy enough to check. It's possible the movement is out of time, or that the wires are off the switch. If the torch switch is working, then it is the same circuit that controls the "on" and "off" of HF and gas...which would bring it back to the foot pedal switch.

So ... Send this back and I get one that works?

Either during packaging or shipment, the toggle switch was smashed into the bottom of the foot pedal. Took a pair of needle nose pliers and bent it back. Seems ok
