I'm Wally out here in the hinterlands of Rainier Washington. I purchased a new model: MigMag 200 welder and I like it but there are a few problems I am having.
One problem is that I have burned up the tips and need new tips, but don't know where to get them. Airgas doesn't carry them anymore and I have called the Everlast importer in San Francisco - Alex, but he seems too busy to return my phone calls. I have called him about 6 times but no answer back. I'm fairly sure that other people who buy this unit will need tips also, so what to do? If I can't get tips for it I want another style welder.
I am also having a problem with the welder red light coming on in an overheating warning. Oftentimes it is when I just start welding so I am fairly sure that it really isn't overheating. What I have been doing in that case is flipping the on/off switch to reset the control.
I also bought an Everlast Supercut 50. I was burning up tips on that unit too until I asked around here at various welding shops and was told that I have to put an air dryer in the line (I think that the Everlast manual should say something about that but it doesn't). I put that in and now it is working good.
My first project was to build a welding cart for the whole set-up. I wired both units with plugs that match my current stick welder plug. I have the cart set up with two receptacles so both the mig and the cutter are both plugged into the cart and then the cart has a long pigtail to the wall outlet. I have hooks welded on all over for leads and things. Tank on the back of it. Then I sewed up a waterproof canvas cover with vents and zipper (I used to do auto upholstery).
