Project #3 (210 EXT Contest) by DVA: Vise Stand
I received a vise for Christmas and needed a stand because I did not want the vise on my welding table.
I had some spare 4”X4” 1/4” walled tubing laying around and purchased some 3”X4” ¼” walled tubing for the frame and some ¼” plat for the top of the stand. Vise base is about 32” tall and base is about 20”X17” outside deminsions. Total metal cost for me was about $25 dollars not including the $4 dollars for the bolts to secure the vise. Metal was cheap because some of it was free.
Tools used were my Rage Saw, Angle grinder with flapper wheel, Everlast 250 EXT, and a drill press.
I could have mig welded this but used it for some TIG practice. I have attached some of the weld pictures as well, still working on my TIG skills. I set the welder at about 185 amps and used 1/8” filler rod.
I still need to add some rubber feet to the bottom of the stand and will add some wheels so the stand can be tipped over and wheeled around the shop where needed. When this is finished I may drag it over to the powder coaters to finish it off.
