First dance with econo-tig

Well as I have stated before I am not a weldor or a fabracator. In my youth I turned wrenchs at a Dodge dealer, drove an 18 wheeler for couple years and finally hired on with MA BELL for 32 years. So this is my first dance with tig machine. I can see there is quite a learning curve. Here are some pics of first beads if you could call them that with econo-tig that I picked up on the cheap. I also learned you need to wear long sleeves when tig welding. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of practice! I`m a mig guy myself, its kinda overwelming, at least on my 256, there`s so many different settings, you`ll get the hang of it and soon weld like a pro!

Thats a great idea maybe a supermodel or two except my wife I don't think would agree it might cause a little problem. Just don't want any guys showing up in pink chaps and bare ###.

hey we have matching arms lol i do that all the time too lol bought as bad welding all day with a hole in your shirt and getting sun burn on your stomach lol

You guys make me feel like such a wimp! Don't even have my welder yet and I've got an apron, sleeves, helmet with chin overhang, ear plugs(!) and gloves. Not sure how I'll be able to move with all that stuff on LOL. So I've got my eye on stick welding to get my foot in the door but I need to keep my OTHER eye on what I might want in the future. Stick allows some entry level TIG on the Everlast units. Would I be missing out by dismissing MIG? I suspect I will be welding smaller things and for whatever reason and despite the pictures of burns (ouch!), TIG seems to have some attraction for me .... 67cudafb, looking forward to seeing you progress on your TIG learning curve.

Still trying to get a handle on the tig. Not much practice lately but doing some mig and a little tig on the cuda frame. I will post pics of cuda. Mig is a little easier to get a handle on.

I sure learned that early on... I was welding a bunch of 1/4" angle on a very hot summer day. Heck I was in the garage and took my shirt off. Boy was that a bad idea. When I was done it hurt to breathe. Plus I had the darn stupid white stripe across my chest. It was where the shadow of my right arm was when I was welding. Things you learn....

BTW....First dance with econo-tig.... I had a couple chances to pick one up. Missed out... They were still pretty pricey. I realized they quit making them from what I could find. I guess the timidness of spending good bucks or waiting for the right deal...
