Thread: Hello from Illinois

  1. Default Hello from Illinois

Hello to everyone. I just received my first everlast tool, a pp80 plasma cutter. i am still in the process of set up, my first project is to build a cart for the critter.

As far as my stats, I am 52, living near st louis across the river in illinois. my real job is as a lineman for our local utility, but my wife and i also own and operate a small grain farm.

The plasma cutter was added firstly, because i have always wanted one. I have taken on projects in the past that required 1 inch thick metal so that is why i opted for the pp80.

I have been reading some on the forum and have been impressed with the knowledgable folks on board the forum. I look forward to getting to know you all better. I apologize in advance for my stupid questions. My wife says i ask them all the time!

Welcome, BigJoe444! Congrats on the new PP80. My first thought was Dang, what are you cutting that's 1" thick?! Something to do with the grain operation?

(There are no stupid questions, btw!)

I recently bought a 3 ft backhoe bucket for a backhoe not the same as mine. I actually think it was for a mini ex. Cutting new mounts out of 1 inch plate, and will weld them to the bucket. The bucket i bought had never even been in the dirt. I am sure it is stout enough for what i need it to do. just need the time to do it. Just had knee surgery yesterday. getting ready to go hobble around the shop a bit just to get out of the house. Not even a day and i have cabin fever!

I hope the recovery goes well. I know what you mean, I can't sit still either.

Just for curiosity, what's the plan for welding the new mounts onto the bucket? Guessing you have a welder, or access to one.
