Thread: CNC PP60c questions

  1. Default CNC PP60c questions

just got the new Power Plasma 60c. Was wondering on the install. This is my second Everlast product. First was a PowerTig 250EX. Nice stuff but setup instructions are not the best. So how do I wire this thing up? How does the torch height controller work? It that part automatic? I am new to the cnc stuff so any help would be great. Oh I have a 4 Axis TB6560 Stepper Motor Driver Controller. If that helps.

    Thanks.

Plasma cutters do not contain the THC, they just deliver a voltage divided signal to an external THC. The rest of the pins are just on,off signal to the cutter and normally a flame good ( or ready for movement ) signal back to the cnc box.

Edit: I do not use a Everlast Plasma, things may be a little different with my Hypertherm.

Now see that is what I thought but this is what there add says.

    - Built in CNC socket with OK to move, arc voltage divider, torch height controller etc.

I just read built in thc. Now I need to figure out how to wire the thing.

    Thanks

    Hi aresfab,

I have somewhat reluctantly taken the CNC project under my wing, and will gladly do what I can to help you out.

I have contacted a couple of CNC manufactures and have worked with several customers trying to interface with a few different controllers.
I recently got a 60c to work with, and frankly the interface could have been better implemented in my opinion.
It has a built in voltage divider that most CNC interfaces use to control torch height. So far the biggest problem has been that the CNC manufacture want’s to install their own divider board inside the machine, so far this has universally resulted it damage to ether the interface, our machine or both.

This seems to stem from the mistaken assumption that all Chinese plasma cutters are built the same, or by the same people and just painted different colors.

So do not install anything inside the machine first off. Secondly do not try to use any other torch with this machine other than the one supplied with it, without talking to tech support please.

If you will call or email me we I can see what we can to doto get you going.

Please call or email me, and let me know what kind of setup you’re working on.

Ok, just to be sure on this, as I just bought a 60C:

I am running Mach 3 software, the control box for my table already has a THC setup, I just connect the wires for THC to the plasma, correct? What I mean is, the plasma cutter does not have it's own THC system, it just gives the required reading to the THC in my control box, right?

Was sitting and was thinking a simple cheaper way to make a cnc set with half the materials. Why not just a single beam rail system that how some of the big cnc machine builder make them Click image for larger version.
