Thread: TIG Newb

  1. Default TIG Newb

Hey guys, I've been hanging around here for a while reading and absorbing. I received my Power Ultra 205 last week and got it setup yesterday. I played with it a bit then ran this as a first full pass.

    Then this.

I'm new to TIG but my first career was being a union welder where I ran MIG, Dual Shield, and Submerged Arc at a railcar plant. Those days are long gone (my computer career is boring me to death). I've been working on an off road buggy and will soon be welding in a cage. It was natural to go with the PU 205 since I don't plan on doing any aluminum. Next buy is a tube bender, notcher, and chop saw.

    This is a nice unit.

    NIce looking welds.

They will improve, once you knock a little rust off.

Glad you are here and that you are customer.

Right now I'm working on a buggy that will be the result of two different CJ7's. It will be a family project with my grown boys. All of them spcialize in somewhat different aspects of motorsports, so it will be fun. I've always been involved in off road of some nature, and compteted in santioned mud drags before they became popular.

The nice thing about this project is that we can share it together or separate. If it breaks, we fix it. Everyone brings something to the table. I might even let my wife drive it.

    Thanks
