Default Project #2 from charger 891 hd welding table

This project is kinda related to my workbench build i did a while ago, with limited space i had to build a table that would fit under my workbench and be able to wheel it under, i also wanted it solid when welding and pounding so i did not want fixed casters, this is my bench, i`ll post up specs later, has 4 boxed tubing welded horisontly to mount tooling , strapping hooks ect, also one boxed tubing insert into one of the table legs for severe pounding, also have a plasma tray that slides underneath the table, originally i was going to build it to slide out and hinge upwards so it would line up with the top of the table but ran out of time so came up with a different mechanism. Basically 2 pieces of boxed tubing, the larger end welded to the table, smaller to the grille frame, and a locking mechamism to hold them together, push them into each other and they lock up, then i build a stabiliser arm to keep the plasma tray equal to the table top (picture for some reason looks like there not even!). For the caster lift i used 2 sections of farm equipment pto shafting, the shafting does not have play like boxed tubing, i then bent up some round rod to make my lift mechanism. so here`s the table, i still want to build a bottom tray for my scrap steel and a few rods for my clamps, all the steel was used stuff i found around except the steel for the grille.

the way the lever was built it lifts a good 3/4inch, i`m using steel castors because i figured welding might damage rubber one`s, if i`d do it again i`d go rubber, these steel ones get jambed easily and are just garbage in my opinion

Wish i could of found a thicker top, i could only find some used 3/8, i would of liked to make holes in the plate for welding fixtures, the other idea and i still could not find was 1/2 inch plate sections.

Thanks guy`s for the comments!!the top plate was actually more pitted than i originally thought it would be, its amasing what you find when you clean up the steel, it will do for now!!
-the legs are 4.5 inches in diameter 3/8 thick

That's a really smart lifting device for the table. About how much does the table raise to make it mobile? I'm constantly trying new designs for my tools and tables. Everything is on wheels where I work and its a pain. I agree, there's no substitute for no wheel contact at all, plant it on the ground.
