Hello,
I wasn't too sure which section to put this in so I put it here. I recently purchased a Powertig 225lx. Upon setup I noticed the argon hose to me seemed a little flimsy. When turning on the gas the outer diameter of the hose grew by about 1/3. From past work experience this expansion and contraction would lead to layer separation, blistering, and ultimately bursting. Because of this I decided to upgrade my hose and add a few fittings.
First I got the hose which is 3/8 High-Pressure Black Buna-N Rubber Tubing rated to a maximum pressure of 250psi. Its Braid covered and has a tensile strength of 1400psi. Ultimately I want to change out the fittings, the one on the solenoid sticking through the back of the machine, and the one on the regulator. I searched on the internet of what fittings I wanted but couldn't find the exact ones. This will take further searching. For now I'm using the barb off of the regulator, and the barb off of the machine.
Here is the hose, quick disconnects and clamps.
I had to make a hose reducer. I used some scraps i had laying around and soldered them together. The smaller piece is copper and the larger is brass. This is just a temporary fix until I can source proper fittings.
The assembled hose wait to connect to the machine.
Here is the how it connects to the machine.
The connection to the regulator. I like having a quick disconnect here. It comes in handy especially if you have more then one tank and regulator, you can easily switch the hose over without a wrench.
