Thread: My plasma cutter in action

Default My plasma cutter in action

Hi, it's been a while since I've been on here, but I'm excited to announce that I love the plasma part of my pro 205! My brother took this photo while i was cutting angle iron. The project is making grates at his carwash not so easy to steal! About a year ago some bad people stole all his grates, 6. The liability is scary cause of potential hazards! We fixed a couple to be less stealable, but my brother got lazy thinking they wouldn't get stolen again- wrong! But the story here is my plasma cutter! ; ). However, I don't really use the stick portion, and have gone through a bottle of argon with the tig : (, not very good with it to do any real project work plus I despise having to painstakingly switch from argon back to compressed air!! Besides I have two fantastic mig welding machines, but actually am having my argon filled again to get back into practicing tig!
My brother doesn't seem to appreciate my skills! Lol

Definately looks like your having FUN! People actually steal grates out of a car wash!!! man they must be desperate!! i`ve got a set up close to what zoama has for switching around the lines, i do some out of shop repairs and usually don`t need the regulator so at least i can keep it home and it dosen`t get banged around!

Just my two cents but this is how I set mine up with a valve for each then going to a T then into the machine
Open one valve close the other and add ur air line for plasma. Simple and no swapping everytime. ;-)

If you go with quick couplers get the ones with a larger inside diameter,(like 3/8"). A lot of the automotive styles are only about a 1/4" inside diameter. This can restrict the airflow to the torch and cause it to burn up. The local home depot here carries both styles.

Only reason I use the valves instead is over time the orings inside of the quick connects leak

Well, it's been a while since I've posted. The picture in the previous post was the last time that my pU205 actually worked unfortunately, I had only cut a few pieces of angle iron. I received a second unit, but never got to use it until a few weeks ago, and it didn't work either. I'm told that the replacement torch 15' is 100.00 plus shipping if that's what's really wrong with it. I've told my husband and he thinks I should just toss this unit and buy a better unit nearby at my local welding supply? The round trip in shipping runs about 85 there and another 35 back to me. I can't keep doing that! Just curious as to what you folks might think?
