"Clean Power" generators are those with low (< 6%) total harmonic distortion, which is a measure of non-sinus variation from the AC waveform. Don't know how 6% came to be the upper threshold. I *believe* the machine's electronics don't tolerate the variations well, but I just stepped outside my little knowledge zone.

What lincoln or Miller Mig welder would you say is equal to the I-Mig 200 if you were to compare them?

I don't know that the 180c would be appropriate comparison. Not sure they make a comparative model at all. Next one up I think is the roll around 216. According to Lincoln it has only a 30% duty cycle at 130 amps. That would be a far cry of 35% @ 160 amps of the 200. Oh, don't forget it is about double in weight.

Yeah, the Everlast duty cycle wins everytime, even when comparing to the Miller 211. I plan on buying the I-Mig 200. I just like looking/comparing.

I just keep coming up with the questions....

I like the I-Mig 200 but after looking a little more I found the MTS 160/200.
If I stepped down to the MTS 160(comparable in price to the I-Mig 200) to get the Tig feature, keeping in mind that it has less output, will it Mig as good as the I-Mig series?
I am buying this to do "on site" repair and having access to Tig would be nice.

    I really like my I-MIG 200.

One thing to remember is that DC TIG still requires 100% Ar while MIG, really MAG, performs better with 75% - 80% Ar with Co2, so extra bottles would be needed to fully utilize the MTS as a portable unit.

Interesting thread. I'm looking at adding a MIG to the stable. I can definitely see where MIGing aluminum would allow for single pass welds without much heat build up. My 205 can cause warping if I TIG too much in one area. Not to mention the ability to work with one hand as opposed to two when TIGing. Some of us can't chew gum and walk at the same time!

When you do buy one, send them an extra 125.00 dollars. That should make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, and pleased.
