Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

... so I'm in for 3. I actually had a new project in place and welded up, but it went south and I was not happy enough with it to share it here, so I'm going to tighten it up and share it later. (But I did get the 14 y.o. off the computer long enough to try MIG welding.)

Thanks again, Oleg and all the moderators! It's going to be a great Father's Day for three lucky guys in particular!

Good to go on posts (entry post was the second entry back on the first page)
Liked on Facebook, like my 200DX as well :-)

I had some projects, but didn't get around to getting posts up.
Not that it is contest related, but I used the 200dx to modify the frame, add brackets to the subframe for shock reservoir and CO2 bottle, shorten teh radiator for tire clearance, modify the factory front fairing stay to now hold the battery and all electrical items, and fixed my cracked turbo header. finally got it into the 7 second zone in the1/4 mile.
Gotta love having your own tools.

I gotta give props to Sean Murphy as well. He's come a long way and seems to be making out ok for himself. Keep up the hard work.

Thanks! I'm just now getting the skills back that I once had. I bought a welder in November 2010 and started playing around again. I had not welded for a living since 2002. Did a little bit of welding here and there, but I had not welded anything since 2006. It takes a while to relearn everything that was once second nature. The majority of time spent welding for a living was in structural steel. I did work for a family owned machine shop, and steel fabricator that did a lot of decorative iron work. The problem with structural steel is that everything is heavy and so you weld everything heavy. The stuff I do for myself is thinner lighter weight and requires some different skills. The work I have done lately has been more heavy stuff; which is what I have had the most experience doing. I would like to improve my tig welding skills, but I have not had any jobs requiring my tig welder.

Jeez, just realized I forgot to put the end count of 344. That would have been a silly thing to get DQed over.

Looks like I was too late to the party to make it in time.
Maybe next contest. I'm still saving for a new machine anyway, and haven't quite made a decision on what to get. 25% off would have helped that a little bit.
