Thread: big and bulky

  1. Default big and bulky

I have a question as in to why are your water cooled tig torches so BIG? I have used ones that are half the size and weight of yours. Do not get me wrong I love your products but that big azz bulky water cooled torch doesnt do it for me! Do you have any upgrades? I tig weld roll cages and your torch almost gave me carpeltunel in my wrists..uggh!!!

here is some pics of mods I did for the tig air cooled tig torch, but would be nice if it was standard for a water cooled torch since most water cooled torches are allot smaller then the one it comes with. Oh by the way you guys are the best when it comes to customers opinion..great product! So here goes the pics if they go up!

The trafimet torch design is one of the most comfortable that I have used. Hence, the name, Ergotig. In fact, Miller and others are using these torches on their tigs now. Perhaps, you need to modify your hand holding postion. Your backhand grip on this torch is too near the head. Plus, it looks like a death grip. I'd suggest that you move your hand down. Practice it. I know you feel you probably have more control, but it is all a matter of practice. Sort of like using a hammer where you choke up on the neck before you learn to swing it accurately and swing it with your arm instead of your wrist.

What you are using is a backhand grip. Our torches are designed for a more comfortable and relaxed forehand grip: See:

Well I just figure if I have to hold the tungston 1/32"to 1/8" from the metal when welding around a tube then I should have all the control I can get.could you please post some pics of somebody welding around a fish mouth in 2" tube with the stack dime look after they are done doing it that way so I can compare. Or mabe I could see one of your tig welds? Thank you.
