Thread: Poll Customer Survey

  1. Default Poll Customer Survey

Oleg and I have discussed the possibility of some small cosmetic changes to our Units and amongst some of these proposed changes is doing away with the multi-coloured control knobs (Blue yellow green red )
With this in mind we have decided to ask our Forum Members for there input.
Below shows pictures of the Present face and one with all green knobs .
    Thank you for your vote.
    Cheers
    Duncan

I've seen guys comment about the colors and I get it, But I really don't mind the different colors.
I personally don't like all green knobs. If I were to change mine I would go with all black because I think the colors make it look "cheap".

All black looks good but it doesn't really matter to me. I just like it to work well at a reasonable price so I'm happy.

Black was Olegs first choice but we decided on just limiting it to the green. I actually think black would look good may have to replace with black and add this to poll as it seems there has been a few mention Black as a better choice.

I don't think either knob set-up will affect sales....

Although I voted for the present color coding I think you folks have already put the controls into a nice logical grouping so eliminating some of the knob color coding wouldn't create an issue. Go black if it helps keep the prices low :^)

I'd like to see it in all black too. I tried to alter the photo to show black knobs but I don't have anything like Photoshop, just Paint, so it wound up pretty rough.

Heh, nice photoshop ... I vote for the color knobs ... Helps me group the functions in my head.

Can I put in a request for the pulse switch? Can you guys make the zero on the switch line up with the wiring of pulse off? Setting the switch to 1 (on) to switch pulse off twists my brain, and I do it wrong every time

    Thanks

I vote for the multi-color knobs. Or if not, all black black knobs except for the power. All green has a weird look.

You should sell the knob color inserts separate so if anyone doesn't like them they can be easily changed for a small price.

We started the color coding before Duncan's time to help eliminate customer calls and explanations. It cut calls way down, and assisted in learning and easy eye acquisition under the hood when an adjustment needed to be made. For me, it's a step backwards...and a nightmare in changing all the literature, and website to boot. But oh well, I don't hold the purse strings. IF we were to go all one color, green would be the worse because of the lack of contrast. Monotone is out...contrast is in. Actually the units set up with all red controls looks much better visually IF you have to go with one color that is... My opinion.

I asked my wife, who is an architect, which she preferred. She thought the multi-colored were "kind of fun".

She and I also both agreed the multi-colored were more functional, because the different colors have difference groups (e.g., AC knob groups, and pulsing knob group)

At first I thought the all green looked kind of "classier", but now I am thinking I like the multi-colored better.

I like a knob where you can see what value it is set to at a quick glance from a variety of different angles.

The multi colors doesn't bother me any, but if a change were to be made I would say go all black.

The present color system works fine, those that want all black or something else,,,buy a felt marker,

As I was a big part of the color coded knobs, I of course like the grouped colors. I spent many years on the phone explaining to people, new to TIG, what the knobs did and that was the reason we went from all red knobs to the color coded ones.

It saved (and still probably does) a lot of time on the phone and in the day, I was it...

If we were to pick one color, black and green would NOT be my pick.

I'm a visual learner so I prefer colors. Honestly I would refer to the functions by color instead of the actual functions!
