You need the male plug on the welder and a mating female receptacle on each of your cords.
In fact, if your welder cord is long enough to reach its dedicated 50 amp outlet, you only need the one cord for 120 volt operation.

I'm sure he's going to plug the adapter to the welder cord first, but it would have been better to have the male end on the machine.

I agree with Rivets having a plug to plug could hurt someone. I think you need a 6-50 Plug on the welder, a 6-50 Receptacle to 5-15 Plug for the pig tail to a 120v outlet and a 6-50 Receptacle to twist lock plug for the generator. Just my $.02.

why not just buy the miller input cable and plug kit only like a 100 bucks then is safe and looks nice , here is were you can buy cords and plugs http://www.brwelder.com/indextemplat...&SubCategory=8 those MOTOR GUARD FILTER # M-26 are nice i use one for dry clean air for my plasma cutter

That does look like a nice deal. These dual voltage machines are quite interesting... But he does have the plugs already.

The double ended ones look pretty spooky....

BTW what voltage are you going to use when you hook it up to the generator??? The 220 plugs have a 4 pin twist lock on the generator.

Had me kind of curious when you showed X and Y on the twist lock.... A 3 phase plug????? Mine 3 phase plugs I thought were 4 pin with ground.

BTW when you were asking about wiring up connectors, when I replied I thought you were asking something different... I always wanted to put a square metal box on the end of an extension cord. That way you could plug in your welder and then have an extra couple 110 outlets for a grinder or such.

Safety is safety. We really do not want to see anyone get shocked in pursuit of welding. You know to plug in the welder side first, others might not.

Might want kill the pictures so they must read rather be visual and zapped.

That is a 240 VAC single phase plug - 2 poles and a ground.

The 50A CS style twist locks I use are labeled in a similar fashion: X,Y,W and ground. They are single phase as well.
