Thread: Foot pedal switch contol for pulser and up/dwn slope functions

Default Foot pedal switch contol for pulser and up/dwn slope functions

I have a 250EX and like using the foot pedal for tack welds but want to use pulse & slope functions to finish welding up the jigged parts but don't want to swap the 7 pin connector all the time, nor do I want to place a switch on the torch.

If I put a switch in line with the jumper on pin 6&7 on the foot control can I use the pulser/slope functions if disconnect the jumper to fool the welder into thinking the foot pedal is not connected yet use the pedal for the switch without the pot causing any control issues?

My understanding was the pedal over rides these funcations as one can do this manually with the pedal? They have a jumper (pin 6-7)located in the pedal connector plug so the welder knows a pedal is attached.

I just assumed these functions did not work in either 2T or 4T modes when the pedal is attached, but I guess I should have tried first.

I want to use a different torch that doesn't have a switch and want to use the switch inside the pedal instead. My style of welding makes a torch mounted switch less than desirable so I don't want to buy one for my new torch and would not want to be continually changing the connectors from a remote switch and the foot control for certain jobs.
