Thread: Nice Quality Welder Covers

    Default Nice Quality Welder Covers

    Hello all,

Not sure where to put this or if it has been discussed before.

Have the Everlast crew looked into having some nice covers made for each model/ range of models that would still look nice?

A nice bright green with the everlast name on them? Not sure how much they would cost but I would probably buy one for each of my welders for when they are just sitting.

Would need slits too for the hoses to stick thru.

    Thoughts?

As far as covers go, I have been getting by with using Hobart welding blankets laid over the machines,,,,at some point,,,I will use the material to have custom covers made out of it,,if I can find someone local to sew that heavy of a material,,,may as well have a fireproof cover that can pull double duty as a spark arrestor..

You mean something better than the old pillow case I have tossed over my MIG welder???? Pretty filthy but it does work great. It was a rag and got tossed over it years ago and has always stayed...

Yes I mean something nice, I obviously cover mine too. I think they are old table cloths or something but I would like a nice cover. I can not be the only one who would want something nice.

Oleg, Duncan, Have you guys thought about something like this?

55 gallon drum liners. Cheap and they fit every piece of equipment I own except for my Bobcat which is under a $3 vinyl shower curtain.

    Really?

I am asking about something nice made by Everlast not what everyone uses. If you all want we can start another thread "what you use as a welder cover". I am sure there will be some good ones.

Please only post and discuss about a production sold by Everlast cover and if you would be interested in buying one, thank you all.

I can't believe that no one else would want a nice cover to go with their welder, it should only cost $50 at most. Am I the only one who likes having nice looking and properly protected equipment?

Yes, it is a 1978. Working on a rwd conversion. Have a porsche snailshell transaxle in the back with a modified torque tube that adapts to a ford 2.0L zetec in the front. Miata control arms all around, everything mounts to home made subframes.

You of course forgot to mention how very badly you want a nice quality welding cover made of bright green material with Everlast printed on it.

Everlast to the best of my knowledge does not make covers!. It HAS been discussed before and Titan Winch said that they would be available but that was in 2010 and I have not seen an announcement of availability .

I would be But I have both the mig and tig on one cart side by side. so it would be difficult to fit two covers I just keep both machines wiped down and use spray wax when needed. That works for me as I dont make that much of a mess and always clean up after a project or stage of one.
I did a lot of work on a friends 62 mini. repaired the old and hacked harnesses, fabbed a dash with an aluminum gauge insert that I did my first engine turning on, and aluminum rear firewall. Cool little car but when we went to change the oil I found that who ever replaced his radiator refilled it with water and the car is in the mountains of Tenn. I knew the milky goop that came from the drain plug was not good.
Would you happen to have the original motor?

    Ram48 - I love that mini.

I'm trying to understand why water in the cooling system would cause oil emulsion in the crankcase though. Does the water cool "too well" and contribute to more condensation in the oil, if the car were operated for short trips?

Or is there a headgasket leak from the cooling system into the crankcase possibly from the water corroding the block or head? Anyhow, goopy oil is not good but perhaps you have a defective thermostat that is not allowing the coolant to get up to temp necessary to boil away any normally accumulated water (from condensation, etc) from the oil. Just a thought... Cheers

I'm with jakeru. Very nice mini. Not sure what's with the milky goop but I hope it's not too serious.

That cart is a pretty nice setup as well. Very organized but what caught my attention was the nice neat spot for the fire extinguisher. I haven't seen too many pics of carts with extinguishers so that caught my attention. Very nice. Excuse my ignorance but are those filler rods in the tubes?
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

sitting is the worse for a engine , most likely ate head gasket ate away from sitting with water in it . best to pull engine a tear down since most likely the crank is rusted and needs to be tore completely down a have engine rebuilt . lol i just got done rebuilding a MG engine since sat for like 6 years and was froze up from sitting . my uncle use to collect Austin Healey's and MG's till he passed away 4 years ago , there cool cars

I fill the crankcase with oil (3-4 gallons) when they're going to sit a year or more and shoot a little into each cylinder.
