Thread: MIG conversion Kit

    Default MIG conversion Kit

I would like to be able to MIG weld with my PP256. Any plans on offering a kit to convert a tig to a mig? I know Miller has a wire feeder for cc welders.
I also have a Lincoln gas powered cv/cc machine. A kit for this would work for me as well.

Ready Welder had a model that worked with cc power.
    Lincoln Eagle Engine Drive
    Everlast MTS 250
    Everlast Power Tig 225lx
    HTP Mig 2400
Everlast Power Plasma 60C --> Just need to finish my CNC Plasma Table!
Miller Spectrum 375 Extreme Plasma cutter
    Victor cutting torch
    HF 20 Ton Shop Press
    HF 4x6 Band Saw
    HF Air Compressor
    Northern Tool Drill Press

Have you ever tried a MIG converted TIG? I imagine it would not work very well since the CC and CV topologies are very different in their internal designs. If you do try this, post up what you added/changed and how well it works when compared to the real thing.

Thanks for the info. I went to their web site and the prices were about the same as buying a mig welder. The wire spool sizes also were small, so I imagine the replacement costs would be high, compared to a 12 lb spool.

I have 3 welders now, and was trying to get by without having 4. I have a 110v Lincoln mig which works well up to about 3/16" steel, the PowerPro256, and a 250 amp gas powered Lincoln that can be set for either cc or cv. I was wondering if Everlast had an adapter box for a reasonable cost, as the ones by other manufacturers seem to cost as much as a new mig welder.
On the Everlast sales web page they list wire feeders as coming soon

Maybe sell the 110vac machine and get an Everlast IMIG-200. Lots of power and small. You can handle sheet metals to 1/4" or so. Just add a 220vac plug and go (about the size of a weldpac or smaller). And I would imagine you can get a fair price for the name as well so the cost would not be bad.

    Just a thought.

I have an old CK 110vac MIG I'm getting rid of. A gift I thought I would use, like you, no room for one more. And the IMIG-200 covers that base (welding range) pretty well for me (or I will TIG it).

I seem to have a problem when it comes to shopping for a new welder. I keep looking at the next model up, and then the next model up. I always worry that I will buy something and then end up wishing I would have spent a bit more for something better. I bought the PP256 recently, so when my bank balance recovers a bit, maybe I will get a I-mig 205P

    Danny,

Those two units will get you all the things you need on a single phase 50 amp 220vac circuit. Plasma, DC TIG, AC TIG, stick x2 and 210amp plus of MIG. Water cooler and tanks and you have a complete welding shop.

I bought the Everlast water cooler with the PP256. Have a CO2/argon, (from my little MIG), and a argon tank that I bought for the PP256. Just need to get some more green stuff, (cash and Everlast).
