Thread: Project TR6

    Default Project TR6

I figured I would share a few pictures of my 1974 Triumph TR6. I did a mild to moderate restoration around 11 years ago (which is why I look so young in some of these pictures, haha). I still have this car and it still drives great! Unfortunately I didn't do a god job of taking pictures to document this project, but here are a few that I found on my laptop.

I picked it up for cheap in this condition:

The only good thing was it didn't have any real rust to speak of, which makes body work a lot easier.

    Building the engine:

I went with some mild performance modifications including milling the head for higher compression, a streetable cam, header, SU carbs, etc. Nothing crazy, but it made the car a little more responsive.

Here are some shots after the bodywork and paint:

Here we are fitting the new top to the frame. That was probably one of the more frustrating tasks on this car.

Nice car... I've always wanted to rebuild a GT6 with a BMW 6 cylinder engine, trans and rear.

There was a TR6 with an S50 swap on ebay recently. The quality of the build was fantastic, but I think I would have done a few things differently (especially the wheels).

That's awesome, I'd love to own that but the same powertrain in a GT6, either navy blue or brg would be even better.
