    Default New 200DX specs?

Ok, so I should have asked before purchasing (ah, who am I kidding, I'd still have done it).

What the heck are the specs? I saw a shot from Duncan that has pre-flow, arc force, pulse high range. Other posts have mentioned up-slope adjustment? What are the actual specs, what torch comes with it, is it the same pedal as the other models, US/Import?

When I talk to Oleg he said there were several improvements including a different pedal from previous 200DX's (evidently they read our posts lol) there is now a pre-flo control, and arc force, I asked about up slope I think he confirmed but he covered so many things so fast I'm not really sure ... hopefully they will update specs soon on the web site.

Where is the shot posted ... I can't find it ... would like to see it ... it's only been four days since I ordered mine seems longer ... it will be great to retire my DC scratch unit and start using a real TIG ... maybe I'll give the old one to my son ... he'll have fun. It was a good introduction to TIG for me ... had never been able to weld supper thin stuff till I got it.

If you don't mind me asking, was the price the same for the new 200DX as it was for the old one? If so, those should definitely cure the shortcomings of the older 200DX and make it a killer little machine.

.... and so it starts. I believe, dear Winky, that you have been inflicted with "new buyer anticipation syndrome". You are going to be giddy with excitement until the package arrives and probably even more excited once you start using it! Oh you are so lucky!
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

Yes, at this point ... but if it gets even more popular than it is now ... who knows for how long.

New buyer anticipation syndrome ... N.B.A.S. ... glade it's just that ... it will go good with the P.T.S.D. that I've had for decades ... LOL ... this should be total fun ... a new way to play with fire. What could be better?

N.B.A.S. is a therapy for P.T.S.D. - we should lobby for it to be covered under medical plans. LOL.

The welder has a higher pulse frequency (150hz) , and has arc force control added for stick and a preflow. It is also panel controlled now for the amps (according to the info I have, though I haven't had one yet) Pulse is ratio controlled.
Here is the link with the pics...you can confirm for yourselves.

Outstanding ... Thanks for the link Mark. I was just looking over the posts ... I can't believe I put an e at the end of the word glad ... that's worse than putting an e at the end of potato ... maybe I should run for VP ... oh that's right I forgot, I don't belong to any political parties.

As far as how long a wait ... I'm not sure Oleg said they were expecting the shipment in "a week or so" that was last Friday ... then after they get the shipment in they will have to go through it, ck to see if everything is as it should be and then re-ship to us ... I'm hoping by the middle of the month ... got my fingers crossed.

Ah ... after looking at the photo of the new machine I think I understand what up slop function there is ... it looks like there is a rheostat on the torch ... I'm assuming that is what Oleg was referring to ... that works for me! One of the first things I'm going to have to do when I start using it is find the sweet spot in AC balance for aluminum ... I looked at the last video Jody put out about that subject and he said the ratios on Everlast machines were opposite to red and blue ... we'll get it figured out.

The rheostat on the torch is an optional torch amperage control.

Upslope is used when welding with the torch trigger to control how gradual or harsh the currentrises to the max setpoint after initiation. Downslope is tapering off after release. Both could also be used with the footpedal if desired. Some welders refer to a similar feature to downslope as crater fill. It tepers off slowly preventing the center of the puddle from shrinking adn causing craters.

Crater fill is actually the end current setting on MOST machines. Downslope is almost always referred to as downslope.

The DX new or old has no adjustable upslope.

That's what I thought, but it was mentioned a couple times in other threads. When I saw the pic, I figured I'd ask.

Oh yea I knew that ... what I was thinking is that since there appears to be a rheostat on the torch when you initiate the arc you can start it at a lower amperes and bring up the power after striking an arc ... therefore mimicking the effect of an up slope ... of course having only owned and used a DC scratch start TIG I could be mistaken.

When I finally can get my 200DX, I will want the torch with an amperage control. That's one of the features of the new version of the 200DX I really like, since I have trouble using a foot pedal.
