Not an expert, but that sounds suspiciously familiar... isn't that the arc gap issue, like a 5 minute fix?

It sounds like you have HF but no main arc transfer. The arcing inside between the points is normal. If the point gap was knocked out of adjustment from shipping you would have no starting arc. Be sure to check your ground clamp, and dinse connector for the wire pulling out. Lack of ground would cause your symptoms. You can also try stick mode and lift start TIG to provide more information for troubleshooting. Also AC and DC modes.

Thanks guys for the super fast response,After doing some troubleshooting by switching to lift start I could only get a tiny arc and thats with the tungsten literally touching my work piece. It also seemed like the welder was arcing without pressing the foot pedal so I quickly turned off the unit by the power switch in the back, then it hit me why not un plug the foot pedal and connect the torch switch.....and boom problem solved!.The foot pedal was causing all the issues.

Nice to hear it was something easily replaced. Based on some people's pics of lack of strain relief on the pedal wiring. If it's okay with Oleg, and you feel like doing it, you might want to open the pedal and just see if a wire got pulled off. Could be easier to just fix it, than to send the pedal back for a replacement. And no down time waiting for shipping.

Yeah, great bunch. I missed the whole episode - it was so short and so many people pitching in to help diagnose.
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

Its nothing like having a product and great support to back it up.Update,I took the foot pedal at work to have our electronics tech diagnose and it appears to be the potentiometer is dead which seems like an easy fix.
