well got some time to use the spoolgun for the first time . a little touchy since have to control speed at welder not like my other spoolgun were you controlled wire feed at gun but making a box to so can adjust feed not at welder later . here some pic also really thin stuff ususlay not welded with a spool gun , gun fed wire very smoothly and has a nice feel when working with and made very well heavyClick image for larger version.

Curious as to the wire size and type you used as well as pushing or pulling the puddle,,,from what I gather ,,on a machine 200 amps and under the max wire size should be .035 or smaller and the wire type should be a softer wire like 4043 not an alloy like 5356,,,at least that what lincoln says in their article on migging aluminum

I'm using my spool gun for steel at this point in time,,,however I'll be toyying around with Aluminum later...

this spool was some .035 5356 i had laying around at my shop , 4043 welds nice with spool gun since has silicon mixed with the aluminum . .030 welds nice on thin stuff . this was at about 21 volts and 110 amps when i welded this this stuff , 4043 take less amps since softer and lower melt point would be like 80 to 90 amps with .030 4043 wire the wire i used was lincoln super glaze. I had a spool gun before this one and liked the Forney 42296 MIG Wire 4043 .035 Aluminum was the best out of all the aluminum wire i used. oh i do ac repair at my shop and do my own ac hose i use weld on barb fitting , do it gas welding use these guys welding rod its really easy to use http://www.muggyweld.com/?view=aluminum

I think have used something like the Super Alloy 1 in the past. Was pretty cool ones you figure it out.. I found, removing the heat and dabbing the filler in, then heat some more to flow it was the best way to use it. And not too hot. Was neat, between solder and filler wire. But you chould mix metals.
