Default Quick question, need some help?

Got a guy bringing a Harley over to repair the heel kick on his kickstand.

I'm wondering if there are any problems shorting out electronics if I weld it on the bike?
I'll be grounding right at the weld..

The guy bringing the bike over asked the question and I said, hmmm, that IS a good question!

He said Screw it, and said he wouldn't hold me responsible but I like better safe than sorry.

There was a recent post on this topic:

Sounds like it depends on the process, to some extent: if you're not using high frequency then there is less danger, but disconnecting the battery and easily accessible electronics is a good idea.

    Fixed!

I disconnected the battery and grounded close to the weld. Went smooth and customer was happy!
Someone had tried to fix it before and I'm guessing they used a torch to heat it because there was a molten metal spill down the kickstand. Ground it all off and made it look new so he was more than happy. PLUS, he wanted some of my cards because he is going on a poker run and his buddies always need something welded... I'm in!!

You da man! That's what were talking about. Building up the business - that's what it's all about. Cheers!
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

lol... Yeah, finally getting some business. There's a new race go-cart builder in town and he has brought me a few things and seems to be a repeat.
