  1. Question Water cooler

My water cooler is slow to start pumping and for the fan to start working, The light comes on but it takes about a minute every time to actually start working. Any clues on what I should check first?

After it comes on, I can turn it on and off tens times and it works perfectly.

To start with what kind of cooler is it?? Everalast?? Which model?

Almost sounds like a weak connection. Is it plugged into the back of a welder or on its own outlet?? Can you verify the voltage it is getting??? Have to be careful but I would check the voltage with a meter at the pins of the plug when it is half way plugged into the outlet. That way you know what voltage it is getting when it is acting incorrectly.

At first I was going to say weak pump but you also said fan is slow. How old is it??? Almost sounds like it is 220 running on 110. But since you say it runs fine if you turn it on and off.
    Shade tree MIG welder.
Now a Shade tree TIG welder.

Its a Everlast 7 months old, plugged into the back of a 250EX. Whats weird is the light on the switch comes on a minute before it starts working. And the welder works just fine.

Doesn't sound good. Is the fan driven by the same motor as the pump? If so, you might have some issue with the coolant clogging the pump, or at least jamming it up. I would flush the system and refill with the correct mixture of coolant. As was mentioned before, be sure the cooler is running on the correct voltage. Many can be switched between 110 and 220. Since it's still under warranty, you can always send it back if you don't feel like taking it apart to investigate.

have you test voltage at back of welder plug with a volt meter to see if has 220v
EVERLAST 250 EX , EVERLAST I-MIG 205 , EVERLAST spool gun NOW have 2 EVERLAST POWER PLASMA 50 plasma cutter's , LINCOLN 175HD MIG WELDER , VICTOR TORCH SET and many more tools to many to list

The voltage on the back of the 250EX is 240, By looking through the vent holes, I think the electric motor has one shaft out each side, one turns the pump and the other has a fan bolted on. Again today, it took about a minute before it started pumping and the fan to start turning. I hope its just the switch or something easy to fix.

I doubt it's a switch, the light is controlled by the same switch. I bet if you give the fan a push start, it would start right up. Either the motor is weak for some reason, or as I said before, the pump has too much friction when cold. Everything on a cooler is simple to fix, it's a very simple machine. However, some things cost more than others. Check with Oleg about warranty service. I'm sure he can help you with this.

Got a chance to look at the cooler today, it has one shaft turning the fan and the other turns the pump. The motor was a little hard to turn, the pump was in a little bit of a bind, I loosened the four bolts on the pump and let the pump resettle. Now it turns easy and works like it should.

I almost bought a Bernard cooler for this welder, after seeing the quality and how this cooler is put together, I'm glad I got the Everlast cooler.

Glad to hear it was something simple. Just keep an eye on it. One addition that can give you more peace of mind is to add a torch protection fuse block. That way if the water ever stops for any reason, you won't burn up your torch cables.
