    Default Argon pricing???

Just got a tank of straight Argon... Guy said it was 155 CF tank. I thought it was a 125... They look about the same. About $50 swapped... Plus taxes haz etc... Cost just under $60... Price seem fair??? I know some of you guys pay less... And some pay a lot more. The guy said he gave me the company discount... Probably could have marked it up 20% for what I know.

Argon co2 mix is usually cheaper right???

I did some research a couple of weeks back for suppliers in my area. Compared to my area, the price you got is a little cheaper.
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

Here in Oregon I've been buying my gas from Airgas company. Straight Argon I've been paying $35 + $5 hazmat for a 80cf tank so $50 + hazmat for a 155cf is probably in line ... I've paying a little more for steel mix ... the price varies but I think I payed $45 the last time ($40 + hasmat)

I think that's fair. Gas prices are mostly labor, which varies a lot in different areas. Also, supply and demand varies a lot in different areas, too. Generally speaking, fewer options (less competition) will mean higher prices. I just paid $48 bottom line (after taxes and hazmat surcharge) for a 155cf Argon exchange (customer-owned bottle.) They jacked the price some 10% or so since my last refill. The branch I usually used has closed up shop, so now I have to go to a new branch (same chain though, so they've got my account in their computer system.) I guess I'm OK with it but I don't really trust this new place to take care of me like the old place did (I really liked the manager at that old branch.)

Downright cheap. 125 cu ft exchange is closer to $70 for me.

Still sounds like a lot of money to be practicing... I guess every time I go back for a fill prices seem to jump...

Wife went over to pick up a tank and some supplies, sent her for an 80, was quoted $175 with $35 exchange (owner bottle) Had her ask about a 125... got a 125 for $225 with $45 exchange, said go for it. Little more up front, lots cheaper later.

Asked about other gasses, wanting to add oxy/acet and a MAPP tank (for my glass work) tank price is tank price, first fill is free, regardless of gas. I like this place!

Only had filler in 10lb packs, a bit much for now for other than ER70S2 so I'm going to order online.

I pay between $95-100 out the door for my 350cf (size 5) bottles of argon.
I never lease a bottle. When I need another bottle I buy one. If you go garage saleing or browse c-list you can usually find someone selling an old oxy acetylene set up with some bottles. Get a bill of sale when you buy the bottles from them and you can exchange them at your local exchange no problem... Loads cheaper than buying new, too.

That's a cool site DaveO. When searching cl I usually have the best luck looking for "torch" or "acetylene" as key words rather than "welding bottle".
I paid exactly 0$ for my last 350cf bottle. A neighbor had an old bottle he used in his truck to run air tools when he was out on his farm, but upgraded to a portable air compressor and I got the old bottle. My Lws took it and gave me an argon cylinder with no charge other than the fill up (95$).

My guess would be someone called and took all 8 tanks. Someone getting out of the business or something maybe and struck a deal with first caller. Or they changed there mind..
