Thread: Max output voltage of a PP50?

  1. #1

Default Max output voltage of a PP50?

Reading the spec sheet on the Power Plasma 50, it lists an open current voltage of 200 volts.

Am I correct in assuming that this is the maximum output voltage?

I'm trying to build an Arduino-based THC and need to determine the maximum input voltage.

    Thanks

Open "circuit" voltage would be output at the torch with no load at all..

Yes, it is listed at 200+ volts. Actual cutting voltage is around 98-105. (estimated)

    Thanks Mark.

Any idea what the peak voltage gets to? I'm trying to figure out how to scale the cutting voltage and I don't know what to make the high end. (I'm trying to keep the circuitry very simple and cheap.) Does 250 seem like a reasonable max voltage?

Yes, for OCV. But that won't have anything to do with actual operation during cutting.

Thanks, I understand. But I wasn't aware the cutting voltage was so much lower.

I just need to max voltage to determine the voltage divider.

I'll let the specs speak for themselves. Hope this helps.
