    Default Stange problem with 250EX

I havnt used my 250EX for 6 weeks or so. Had a little job come up for my brother. I pulled the machine out of the corner pulled the power cord out and plugged it in, and got the work ready for welding. Powered up the machine and get a strange display on the display -I00C (except the C is facing backwards) is what appears. when you depress the pedal it stays and the machine is WIDE OPEN on amps cannot get the machine to respond to adjustments, very very little time is on this unit. I need HELP !

I am by no means and EE but my PP205 had a display that went in and out and had funny characters showing. I called support and they had me take the cover off and make sure the display connection we tight/secure. It was loose so I secured it and now my display is working fine. I don't know if this will help but, you should call support. Good luck.

Any success in figuring out the problem? Of course it is the weekend so I suppose tech support isn't the easiest to get a hold of. Hopefully it is something very simple as suggested by NRM above.

No luck. I had already tried the things mentioned with out success. I spoke with Ray and he decided the machine needs to be sent back. I hate this as I have to go borrow a tig welder to do some repair and modification work to my dragster. What I dont really understand is it was working flawlessly 6-7 weeks ago and had been sitting in my shop on the cart all rolled up, unplugged nice and tidy in its spot. As soon as I find out what happened Ill let everyone know.

Well I have sent the machine to Idaho for work. What really irritates me is that it cost me 97.05 at UPS to send the machine in, not happy about the cost !!!!!!! The first machine I got back in July last year had to be sent in for exchange, lost 6wks there. Hopefully this turn around will be much much quicker !!!! Hopefully this will be the last time

Still waiting on the repair. I was really really hoping to have the machine back by now. I really need to get some of my race car projects done, hate to borrow a welder or pay to have it done.

    TD,
Have you heard from them yet? I have a PP50 plasma cutter that they received in Idaho on the 15th of last month and have called on twice. Both times I was told, by Ray, that it was next in line to be fixed and I should hear back from the in a day or two. Still I have not heard anything. I also have a 250ex that had to go in for service. It, however, was a quick turn around and excellent customer service. The unit came back in better condition that it originally arrived in and had the new front cover with better markings.
When opportunity knocks, most do not recognize it, because it shows up wearing overalls and looking like work!!

I have called several times and was told it would be fixed in a week or so each time I called. The last time I called I didnt get through to Ray so I left a voice mail with my concerns and sent an email to Oleg. He did reply that he would check into this and I should hear something shortly. That was Tuesday of this week, still havnt heard. I sure hope this is not common with a service issue.

    TD,
I do not know if it is typical. I had a great experience when I had to have my 250EX repaired. Prompt response and surprisingly fast turnaround. This time, I seem to be getting the same kind of response that you are. Ray has told me three times now, that it is next in line to be repaired and I would hear something in a day or two. Still no word!!! How about your? Any word yet?

    Oleg,
Can you check into mine? It has been 6 weeks and no one from Everlast has called me at all. When I have called, I get the same response each time.....It is next in line.

I did get a call from Everlast confirming the shipping address, and was supposed to ship out Monday (hopefully have it by Friday), but have not received an email with a tracking number. I shipped my machine to Ray on Aug 6th, that will make it two months if it arrives Friday. I will let yall know when I get the unit and try it out.

Guys, we have reordered things a little to help get things more efficient. Right now, I will be answering calls for updates, and the run of the mill technical support items so they won't take away from our techs abilities to repair things and get them turned around quickly... So, I am helping out on that. IF you need an update, call me at 207 and I will get a progress update for you. Response won't be immediate, but I will process them in a way that can be managed. So, have ALL the information available about your unit when you call. WE've had several units repairs get delayed because customers did not get an RA number OR put the RA form in the box. Imagine getting units shipped with only a return address...no idea what is wrong...or why it was sent in.

Or you can email me...include the phone number and if you call have your email handy as well so we can follow up. IF you can't reach me directly, don't despair. LEAVE a message..a brief one with all the pertinent details...not a 5 minute one. Please...REPEAT the name and phone number SLOW, and give your first and last name...so many people call asking me to call them back but leave no phone number or forget the area code...or run the things together that even listening to it 6 times in slow replay mode doesn't make it understandable.

I called Friday and the unit did ship out Monday of last week. Everlast sent me the tracking number and it was slated to be delivered today (Monday the 8th). I was in a hurry so I went to the UPS hub this morning before the trucks got loaded and out for deliveries today and picked up the unit. I got home and unboxed installed the plug and hooked everything up and fired the machine off. Ive only tried the machine on AC so far. All seems to be working as it should. The repairs too way longer than I expected but Everlast did take care of the problem. Now to get some of my back logged jobs caught up LOL !!

I had some time today to use my welder for some race car projects on building aluminum blow by tanks. The arc was somewhat unstable and hard starting. Then about 15 min in I lost arc altogether, only the high frequency will work now. Per Marks suggestion I checked the power cord plug connections, new breaker, scratch start with no HF, 4T with torch switch, checked ground clamp on both ends, Two torches, different tugsten, different bottle of argon, 75/25 argon helium, I had another foot pedal also tried that as well, Im sure I left something out that we tried too, all with same results. Just got the unit back yesterday. Im not very happy at this point.
