Yea I am back and forth on the PA140 or a PA160. HF start and gas solenoid would be nice but is it worth $200+ more..... throw in the argon regulator..... it's a hard call.

Well a 20CF bottle @ 10CFH should go about two hours of valve on time. So for portable repairs I think I could get by with much less, if it meant I could get it packed down small enough to fit in the case and carry with one hand. I have some PCP air rifle bottles that would do ok for argon and are rated to excess of 3000psi. And There are bailout SCUBA bottles that are high pressure and super small, too.
I don't see the 140ST on the dimensions thread, yet, how does it compare to the 160STH? They look like they fit in the same case. Or is the 160 case bigger?
I like the 160STH, but I can live without HF, gas solenoid and 20 extra amps for the price difference. And if it is bigger, I would prefer the smallest package possible. Size will be what seals the deal for me. I would probably pair it up with a WP-9 torch as that is a better fit for the amperage, and smaller. It still seems crazy that it's now possible to have a stick/TIG welder that fits in a briefcase. I love it.

They are small and fit in the case well. The WP-9 would be a plus on space too. I see the $200+, but you can use it as a home or small shop DC TIG as well. Foot pedal (optional) works well too. Mine has not been in the case since I bought it.

On the tanks. You can leave a spare in the truck, run out go back and get it.

Are the 140 and 160 cases the same size?

Unless I transported the welder on a bicycle.

DO NOT PUT Cylinders in your trunk. Mike is speaking as a personal habit, not a recommendation. It is technically illegal, and can be highly dangerous to put any compressed gas cylinder in your trunk.

    UPS strikes again.......

Seems UPS lost my welder or left it sitting in Ky... They are claiming it will be delivered today but it shows no scans after arriving in Ky.... From there it should have at least 5 other arrival and departure scans..... All they can tell me is "It SHOULD be delivered by end of business day...." well no crap it SHOULD, but that don't mean it will!

Boo, I hate when that happens.

Maybe the barcode got scratched and it won't scan, but has still been going through, and you really will get it today.

Of course maybe evil space monkeys invaded Kentucky and took it to repair their mothership.

No such luck.... UPS makes it here in the AM and no sign of them.... But according to the stupid CS agent, it SHOULD be here today... They keep insisting it SHOULD be here today. I think I will call back at 4:30 and if they say "it SHOULD be here today" I am going to tell them, NO it SHOULD have been shipped by FedEx.

If UPS made a mistake, they will typically rerun a truck late to deliver it. At least that has been my experience, when they have missed the normal drop off time.

Not here. UPS dispatches their trucks from Shelby, NC which is about 25 min drive so you have to wait till the next day... unless you feel like driving to Shelby yourself (I have been told by CS I could do that if I wanted my package). I did contact Amazon and was told by them to wait until 7:00pm and then they could either send a replacement if that one doesn't show up.... so much for next day shipping...... wait, it should be here the next day....LOL

Honestly it doesn't matter if I get it today or tomorrow but it is the point that they tell me to sit at home and wait. Just tell me the truth!

I don't have a trunk (Had a 94 explorer way back)? And I was looking at a Ridgeline and Avalanche, I think they have a slide out space for small tanks so the DOT can not see I have no caps on them.

Now Amazon is telling me to wait till Thursday and if it has not shown up by then, then they will send a replacement or issue a refund..... My guess is they will make me wait until 7:00pm again and then it will be next week before a replacement would be received.... How's that for next day delivery!

UPS's is still showing delivery for today and no new scans since the arrival scan in Louisville KY.

    Here is what Amazon said:

Regent:Let me call UPS about this Shane. Please give me one moment.
I'm sorry to keep you waiting Shane. I'll just be a moment longer.
    Thank you for waiting Shane.
I called UPS and they verified and guarantee that your order will be delivered today, the latest date would be tomorrow.

    My reply was:

Me:"and guarantee that your order will be delivered today"
    Regent:Yes Shane.
Me:that is to funny since the UPS drivers are at home eating diner by now...

I figure the Amazon CS guy is sitting in India and does not relate to what time it is here. Probably called UPS and got a CS person across the room he was in that gave him that answer.

Hopefully it will make it here tomorrow... in one piece. My experience with UPS is if it arrives late, it will probably be beat all to hell.

Maybe you shouldn't be adding this tale to a thread titled "Damaged during shipping!"
