I'm wondering why the Powerarc 160 cost more than the 200? Is it the lift/HF tig option?

I think their niche markets as well. The Power Arc 200 is a heavy duty stick welder that you could use a scratch start tig setup. Where as the 160 has all the DC tig function you need, and is a better tig welder that you can also use a stick welder. If you need more of the tig function then go with the 160. If your looking for more of a stick welder then the 200 is a better option. I have burned 10lbs of rods over 4 hours with my 200 and never missed a beat.

Thinking about buying one for a friend.
He used to have a Miller Maxstar 150 so I'm wanting to get something comparable. I think he liked the dual voltage of the Maxstar so that is why I'm thinking of the 160. He stick welds everything, rarely Tig. I think the 200 would be better except the dual voltage part. Maybe I should spoil the surprize and ask his opinion....

If he want the ultimate, small, strong sticker welder. The PA200. It he wants a good stick unit with a little less power and all the nice DC TIG features, the 160STH (like it it best myself). In the middle and on a budget, the 140ST is a good pick too.
