Thread: Super Cut 50 Questions

  1. Default Super Cut 50 Questions

Hey guys, just got my Super Cut 50, UPS dropped it off today, acquired it from you guys on Pirate4x4 (same screen name), opened it up and looked it over. Sadly it came though with a cracked front and rear plastic cover (the ones the straps attach to). The front is cracked all along the bottom and side, and the rear, the plastic snapped off around where the screw runs through it. How do I go about getting new ones?
    Good news though it works!
Performance, or whoever wants to chime in, I've got a few questions: Is the potentiometer for the amperage supposed to only go about 3/4'ths on the printed scale? My amp range in the display is 12-53 is that within spec? Are these only contact start, touch the workpiece and either pull back a bit for stand off, or drag cut? TitanWinch had a video cutting 1/4'th plate with the SC50 at 30amps, however mine won't completely punch through until 40amps....is there anything I need to gap or adjust? And lastly, when you shut the power off, is the display supposed to stay on for 10 seconds before it too powers down, as mine does?
I took pics of the unwrapping and all steps through setup and am going to do a thorough review on Pirate as I told Alex I would. Thanks for any help guys.

    Hi CJ
With the 1/4" plate i think i had it set at 39amps if i am not mistaken. For the best results having the tip just of the surface while cutting is the preffered method ( i find it hard to do this myself so i normally just drag )
If you play with the psi and amps you will probably find that 35amps would work for you. As for the Plastic Bezels i have not recieved any Supercut units with them yet but from what you say i would think the courrier would be pretty hard on the package as it is relatively lighweight and you would not expect to see gamage from them.
I hate to say this but i very seldomly get any damage to my Winches when shipped in Canada but i always worry when i have to send one to the US, as they tend to be rougher with them and i have to go to some extremes to protect them.
    Cheers

Your unit is working correctly . The Supercut is not Pilot arc only the Power Series have this feature. As for the readout it is in the parameters . Keep in mind that with most cuts you develop a feel for your unit and you will quickly become used to just where you need to set dials / air for the job at hand. The powering down is right . MOSFET units hold power after shutting down and 10-15 seconds is normal

    Cheers

    Thanks for the help all!

Sent off an email with pics of the bezels, spoke to a very pleasant woman who said upon picture receipt tomorrow new ones will be sent out. Will update when I have them.

Update: Tracking number didn't show activity. Talked to Alex about two weeks ago who said I would have them that week. Still no bezels going on two months. Are the parts in stock or? I'm still hoping for this to be a positive experience as I'd like to pick-up a TIG in the near future.

If i can stop playing with my new line of winches long enough i will check to see if i have the Super Cut bezels in stock. Been really busy lately making up synthetic Lines for the new Winches . But i will take a look first thing in the morning and see what i can do for you
