Mig Guns

I've been wanting a longer mig gun for a while. I managed to crack where the nozzle screw onto the tube. I ordered a 15' Tweco gun Friday. The ergo plus is 12 or 13' and having a couple extra feet will be nice. I also wanted to get consumables without ordering them. Tweco consumables are readily available and easy for me to get. I liked the Benzil mig gun, but I am hoping this Tweco gun will be a little more heavy duty.

Congratulations on your new MIG gun, it is always nice to get new stuff to try out and your Tweko gun should be a real work horse. I hope I am not stealing your thunder here, but I thought it would be a good time to bring up for discussion the welding aftermarket is a great place to find new or replacement parts. With Everlast using the simple Euro style kwik connector/coupler it is very easy for an aftermarket changeover to other style guns. I have seen discussions on changing out torches on the TIG machines, but you’re the first one I have come across talking about the MIG guns. (I know I probably missed dozens of posts – sorry)
I have limited local welding supply stores where I am at, and it seems like anything name brand is special order or internet but both the local supply stores have a large Tweko selection in stock. My MIG gun’s cable/hose is getting a bit worn and am considering going with a Tweko replacement with a bit more length as well.

I run a Tweco #4 and availability of consumables is the main reason. S/F....Ken M

My gun arrived today, and I thought I would post a little comparison.

There's not that much difference in the size of the gun. The only real difference is the length. I wanted a longer gun and I was not unhappy with the stock mig gun. I think it's good comparison for Everlast, and it's good for people to see there is not a whole lot of difference between the ergo plus and a tweco gun.

The problem there is that is probably too long. The drive feeders will be put under extra stress, and the two roll drive may not feed well. 15 ft should be okay, but it looks like you have 25 foot. A lot of things start happening when your cable gets that long...and none of them are good operationally speaking. Plus the tips and nozzle parts are available at every harbor freight. This gun is used by many companies, and sold even through snap on with this basic design. Another "common" welder I can think of is the old clarke welders also used the same parts.

I have not measured the gun, but I ordered a 15 footer. I have plans for a larger mig welder soon, but I wanted some extra length for my imig200. I may have to send it back.

Going by the blocks on your porch the oem torch covers 6 blocks and the tweco torch covers 9. If the oem torch is 10' that would make the tweko 15'.

should be 12. That would make the tweco 18...camera angle is probably why it looks so much longer.

That appears to be the same gun I have. That's about what I paid, but I got free shipping through Amazon.
