These are my first impressions of the SuperCut 50P machine I purchased. I have been researching a plasma cutter in this power size for several weeks. There are many options available which includes the Everlast brand, many other Chinese made units, and the more well known brands. I wanted the pilot arc feature and also would have preferred the IGBT technology, but for the price difference on this unit with MOSFETs, I decided this would do. When my unit arrived, I found a loose nut in the plastic wrap around the unit in the box, and having read on other reviews that these type units coming out of China have issues with things working loose during shipment, I knew I needed to remove the cover and check things out. What I found was a transformer had completely come loose and was hanging by the wires. The support bar that the transformer attached to was also loose from the frame on one end. I found the remaining loose nuts and screws and decided to use some metric locking nuts I had on hand to reattach the transformer. I also checked and tightened all the remaining screws and nuts inside the unit and I strongly recommend that anyone buying any cutter or welding equipment coming from over seas do this too. The overall appearance of the unit inside and out was good. I didn't find any cracked bezels or other damage from shipment, in fact the unit was well packaged. Also, I found that Everlast had addressed some issues from earlier made machines, that had been reported, such as the mounting bracket for the air pressure regulator didn't need any modification to work properly. After installing the 220 volt power plug and my optional air dryer, I was ready to test the unit out. I made a few cuts on some rusty 1/4" plate and it worked just as it should. As with any purchase of this type, the dependability of the unit remains to be seen, but I am satisfied at this point. Everlast could make further improvements to their quality by simply using at least some lock washers or better yet, locking nuts in places where they don't have them now.
