Which Mig to get.....

As the lucky 2nd place winner of the Summer time contest I have some green bucks to spend. (Thanks Everlast!!!)

Originally, I had planed on getting a 200DX if I won second, but I already bought one from Amazon. Guess I should have waited.... oh well. Actually it works out well as I also need a Mig welder and didn't really want to buy a Horror freight unit but I dont have the funds for a nice unit.... (since I bought the 200DX)

So now I must decide what to get. I love the look and size of the MTS 160 but don't need the Tig function. So I am leaning more towards the I-Mig 160 or I-Mig 200. However the ratings on the I-Mig series is a little confusing. The 160 is rated 135 @ 35% and the 200 is rated at 160@ 35%.... But the MTS 160 is rated 160 @ 35% (more like the output of the I-Mig 200).

Any one have any thoughts?

With the new MTS models out, there was going to be some changes in the lineup and pricing. Not sure if that is all settled, probably best to give Oleg a call before you make a decision.

Shane, we are in effect dropping the 160 I mig and 160 mts (when supplies run out if they haven't already) in favor of the more popular 200 amp units which are marginally more expensive and selling better for both units. Our line is expanding on the MTS front and on the MIG front as well, but with units that meet a wider range of needs. But if it is the compact MIG you need, the IMIG 200 is the best choice. There's no real changes coming for the 200 IMIG so I think it would be a safe bet.
