Does anyone know what the difference is between the M30 & M60 filters are.
I can't see any difference, they take the same cartridge, same inlet & outlet port size & flow the same amount of air.

The only difference is the inlet/outlet size (m30 is 1/4" npt, m60 is 1/2" npt). Be sure to buy the kit, which includes 3 filters. http://www.tooltopia.com/motorguard-m45.aspx

Thanks, I couldn't see any difference in the spec's last night when I was looking at them.
The M30 should work fine.
Ever have one freeze up in cold weather ??

Just ordered a M45 kit. Now just have to get a hose lead & fittings to connect it to the PP50 when they both come.

You can buy a cheap 10' air hose, cut off the piece you need and put a quick coupling on the end and on the air dryer. Similar to thisMakes it easier to transport if need be.
I used 1/4 to 1/2 bushings (not needed for M30) and put a male QC on both sides of my air dryer so I can just plug it in like any other air tool.

Nice setup. Did you make it so the regulator/filter unit can be disconnected from the cutter, so the unit can be transported without having to worry about bumping and breaking the regulator ?
My unit will get kept in the house when not in use, so it will get moved around a bit. I'll have to look over the regulator/filter unit that comes with it and see about making a quick disconnect bracket for it, which shouldn't be hard to make. That way the regulator and M30 dryer can be stored in a tool tote along with the torch & ground cable.
Not sure if my PP50 will come next week or not, UPS in not running ground service tomorrow, only next day air service. So it won't get shipped out till sometime Monday which gives me sometime to get a plug & some fittings.

Your right there is no regulator on the back, what I meant was the water separator that mounts to back, which everyone says the screws are too long. I want to make the separator removable which shouldn't be hard to do. That way for storage & transport there is nothing to get bumped or broke. I'll have to wait till I get the MotorGuard. I might just make a tote and mount them both to it and not mount the separator on the PP50. Might be able to find an old hard side suitcase and make a carry all for it.

In my opinion you wont need that with the motorguard... there won't be any water to separate so it would only act as a secondary filter. If you want to use it, I'd mount it to the motorguard outlet with a 1/4" npt close nipple. Don't overtighten.

Sound like a good idea, it would help extend the life of the motorguard filter maybe.
Let's see, 1 quick coupler, 2 male connectors, 1 1/4" brass nipple, 1 short section of hose to go from the filter outlet to the unit, 1 coiled fifth wheel slider cylinder air line to use as a whip going into the separator inlet.![]()

I have a Franzinator just prior to the Motorguard I have and the filters lasts a whole lot longer.
Get the water and oil to separate from the air first and then let the motorguard do its thing. It really gives me some pretty clean dry air. I can dry out a wet towel by airing it with a blow gun quickly as the air is so dry. My consumables last way longer and my cuts are as smooth as a babies behind.

Went to Lowes after work today, got several couplers & ends, 50 amp plug & 1/4" nipple, only thing left is the coiled hose. Should have got that at the Tractor store when I was there. I can get that later, all I need now is the Motorguard and the cutter.

I got the Motor Guard Filter, wish now I would have got the M60 with the 1/2" ports which are on the top of the filter. 1/2 to 1/4 bushing and I could have screwed the water/oil separator into the filter and saved some brass fittings and away to mount the separator..
The cutter will be here tomorrow, I'll have to wait and see what's, what's then.

I'm going to keep it, it will take just a little more brass to plumb things up the way I want.
Did get the cutter to day, very nice & heavy unit. I need to make a bracket to mount the small separator that came with it, a couple more 3/8 hose barbs and another piece of air hose. if the hose that came with it was about another foot long, I'd be just about set.
I might get a chance to try it out this weekend after work.
