The PowerMaster 256's have been relatively quiet as far as news makers as far as tech support is concerned. They are roughly equivalent to a 250EX and PP 60, both are excellent models.

thanks for the quick response. what color are the torches. on the web site there green but everyone in videos are blue. probably matters nothing but i like torches that are green. can i get it that way or not. does it really come with the s45 plasma or with one of the others that have zipped tied on switches. thanks again hope to be able to order one soon. new baby on the way. but it is tax season. just got to convince the wife we really need one. chris

    Honestly Chris,

The torches were SUPPOSED to be green. The sample photos provided to us are green. I don't know why they are blue. Right now they are blue. They could be purple tomorrow. I guess we could pony up more money to get them dyed green when they are cast, but most people rather have something functional and wouldn't like to fund the extra setup fee through the added cost it would incur to the units. But for 5.99, Krylon makes a rather nice plastic chip resistant enamel paint....in green

The 205 comes with the s-45 which is a 50 amp max torch. The 256 comes with a P-60 Torch which is a higher amp torch. The switch is zipped on. With that said, I was looking at a brand new torch for a Miller XMT 304 for tig, and they were using zipties on it. It looks like that is the direction the industry is heading. I have seen zip tied and velcro for tying on those type switches used by everyone. The P 60 is an excellent and HIGHLY reliable torch, so it is hard to kill a good thing like it even for the sake of the zip ties. The zip ties grip well, and they can be cut off and the switch can be mounted to fit under hand or over hand or adjusted to fit your grip. This is a plus in my book. When I first saw them, I too was like....What in the world? But as I began to examine them, they are sturdy, and allow the torch to be easily chucked up into a cnc cradel or adapted for mechanical use quite easily.

do you have any pics of what actually comes with the 256 thanks chris what do you recomend the 3 in 1 or seperate kinda low on power will a 50 amp breaker work other wise have to run bigger wire to shop. Power is kinda hard to get in mexico

The machine is listed at 60 amps maximum draw. I certainly cannot tell you that it will work on less, you will have to use your discretion. I think we have finally agreed to bring the new site on line tomorrow or Sunday. But the tig torch you have seen and the 60 amp plasma plus all the other accessories are included just as with the other units.

    Chris,

The PM256 should run on a 50 amp breaker. You will not be able to run the full 250 amps (I have ran 220amp on mine). I have ran my 250EX (1 month) and prior 250 LX (9+ months) on a 50 amp circuit.

That said, we recommend 60 amps.

The only thing I can not confirm is the addition transient load with the cutter built in the unit on power up.

The PM256 comes with the torches, stinger, clamp, air regulator, gas regulator. You will need to get a plug, argon bottle and tungsten (and proper safety gear of course).

    Hope this helps.

I have a local friend running the PM256 and I might talk to today, I will see what he is hooked into far as breaker size.

my wife started me a welder account and a bunch of friends put money on it for my b-day welder coming soon my question that i have is what kind of torch does it come with the manuel says it comes with a wp 18 or 28 which one does it come with and is it air or water cooled. what about a water cooler. is there a site where i can look at other torches that will fit. the only wp that i can find is 12 16 18 26 is there another brand that will fit. thanks to all for the quick respose time to all of the questions. probably could find the answers on this site but dont have much time with son and baby on the way chris

    Misprint on the 28. Its a 26.

Most any tig torch will adapt. The 256 should come with a water cooled torch.
We have water coolers as well.

is torch watercooled? how thin and how thick can it weld aluminum and sheetmetal? How much heatsoak does the plasma put out? I mean how clean are cuts in the sheetmetal? I bought for a killer deal of $30 but shipping was so expensive i cant comment. I take very good care of my equipment that the matco tools guy cant believe my stuff. Matco plasma stuff is by thermaldyne i think which has lasted me over 10 years, not knocking everlast because this stucc looks to perform top notch. We shall see. I build custom superchargers and musclecars. This unit does it all and i might get another. I seen a rumor stating it was a 250EX with a 60 amp cutter.
