Thread: NEW 2013 EVERLAST PowerTig 255 EXT AC/DC DIGITAL TIG WELDER

  1. Default

    Thanks Mark,

If it uses quick taps, that's fine, it's pressing and holding for x number of seconds that I am not a fan of.

My thinking on the knob is, since it only has one,and it is nearly the entire interface, let's make it a nice one Even the current 250EX amp knob is a bit nicer than the one shown in the photos of the 255. After all, this is your top-level entry in the US, right? Thanks for whatever you can do for us.

I don't have anything to do with that at this point. That detail would be for Duncan. He has his hands on the digital units in the factory. I have no idea. It will be whatever is available to fit the encoder that is used. They don't fit the same. To special make one would involve a lot of expense and planning.

It'll likely be this knob or a cut down version of it:

Alright then, here's my OK. I don't have the machine yet, of course, but if we're just waiting on OK's, here's one to start off with: OKAY I'd give a thumbs up, too, if you need some of those.

    Ready in Kent,

It's very reassuring (and impressive) that Everlast is taking the "long view" on this new welder. IMO, this cautious approach is the best way to gain market share!

Will they be in the batch that Duncan is on his way to oversee now?
Penncrest Buzzbox - Infinite amp control! Man the 70's were good.
Everlast Powerplasma 60 - Reliable unit, cuts well.
Everlast i-MIG 250P w/spoolgun - Really smooth, plenty of cajones.
Everlast 250EXT - Sometimes it just takes a kick in the balls...
Everlast 255EXT - Just started playing

So does that mean that Jody and Mr. Tig are going to figure out all the options of the 255EXT with out a manual it took a long time to figure out the code 802 on my MTS250S with a manual and help from the Everlast forum.

    Honestly, Kempy,

That's a minor concern. Both these guys are pretty quick on the uptake. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to operate a welder like this. A quick phone call is all it takes to clarify anything or ask a question if they need to.
