    Honestly Mark
That's why it took two weeks and a lot of back and fourth on the forum with all the Everlast team and members of the forum and emails I sent that never did not get answered. It took a lot of work too finally figure out it was not me but the machine. Having the machine replaced by Everlast Canada, now problem free it works very well thanks to Everlast Canada and Duncan and Everlast USA also trying to help. MANUAL'S do have mistakes in them typos and human errors hard to work with the wrong information. I imagine that Jody and Mr. Tig have more resources then I would ever have.

The MTS is a lot more complicated machine. An early phone call to tech support on your unit could have reduced a lot of down time and cut out the emailing and forum debate. A Tech support call is the primary way to receive the most efficient and accurate information. The manual itself had the original codes that were correct that were provided originally by the factory.

Things like advanced hidden menu settings and error codes would take a phone call or two. But one real good test is can an experienced welder get the machine up and running without any instruction. If not then the machine isn't intuitive enough or following industry standards. Plus both these guys jump around between brands a lot more than the average welder, so they should be able to use this machine right off. They are not writing the manuals, just doing a usability test and outside review. If they have problems then the machine is not ready for production. I'm sure they will explore all the basic features and make sure the machine performs on par with other models. They might also make suggestions for changes or point out omissions or errors to fix before final production. (You can see Jody found an a labeling error on his 210EXT that he corrected with a sharpie.) After that it's up to Everlast staff to write a proper English manual from final production units.

I understand your point and Mark's but wouldn't you like to read the manual before you bought the machine to see if it is the one you want. So if the manual give you the wrong data and you buy it how would you feel that the factory's should have them proof read by others or just leave it (sorry)even on the Everlast web site there are errors that have not changed for over a year since I have been looking at it and I have even email them about it. I like the product and have sold many machines to others I have bought:
    3- plasma welders
    2-PowerTig 250EX,
    1-MTS250S
    1-Imig205P
    2-water coolers
    7-welding carts
    2-spool guns
    and on order 1-PowerTig 255EXT, 1-PowerTig 250EX, 2-water cooler and 2-welding carts.

I have yet to read any of the manuals before deciding on the machine. I did talk to oleg on the phone when making the final decision on the pp256 and he answered all of my questions no problem. Infact I have not read the manual for my MTS200s and only looked at the few things I have needed to look up. They list all the specs and that is all I have needed. I don't see the manual as a big concern before the machine is read. I am more anxious to finally get the machine and would rather get that as soon as possible.

In the end, it is personal preference.

Oh I can totally understand wanting to see the manual before purchasing. But this machine is not even on the market yet, so at the moment there is no manual. Those that pre-order are buying the pig in a poke, with the expectation that it will work out, or that Everlast will make good on things. For most models this has been fine, the one exception was issues with the 250EXT. And Everlast did make good on those with either replacements or refunds. I think they learned from that, and now this pre-release testing by people that will poke and prod a bit more than the welding school that originally tested the 250EXT. That testing was great for durability and abuse, but maybe not for all the features and options. While Jody and Wyatt will be good on the latter but probably not as much on the former Both types of testing would be the ideal. Then they will take what they learn from that testing and make any refinements with hardware and or software changes that are needed to get the final polished product ready to go into production. Only then can a final manual be written. So it is very likely that early adopters will have the machine before the manual. The other option is just not to be an early adopter. You can always wait. Since the person that writes the English manual will have to wait for the first shipment of production models to get a sample, there really isn't any way to speed that up. There might be changes between the pre-production samples and the final product, that would need to be included in the final manual.

Of course if you can read Chinese you might have other options.

The first production run can not be started until we give the the final confirmation to our production engineers . I just got back in last night and unfortunately this particular trip was more of a headache for me as opposed to being productive. While I did manage to get some things accomplished, unfortunately I got stuck in a area where Typhoon Sulik hit and I had quite a time trying to get out of the affected area as some 400,000 people where being evacuated . Needless to say this made travel somewhat of a adventure to say the least.
    Cheers

If I had a Chinese copy my computer can translate Chinese to English. When I work for the Honda Canada in the service department I translated the Japanese manual to English.

Super hard to retain a language if you don't use it regularly but knowing multiple languages is really useful. Unfortunately they don't tell you that in middle school.

Good news indeed. This welder is a huge addition to the Everlast welder lineup. Very impressive. Bring on the videos.
