Mark, thanks for the additional vids. They leave me with one question though, Where is (are) the torch switches, and how is the switch cable going to be run out to the torch handle ?

They are separate and you put them on yourself. The one I had tested had a small microswitch that zipped on instead of a big paddle switch.

I like this option.. I have considered taking the switch off my other torch since I have only used it once and it would make the torch more confortable to me.

I like that it will be a microswitch, the paddle worked OK for me to to operate, but was a bit clunky when stored or set down.

Guys, We'll have to see what was shipped with the production models. . This was one of the preproduction models. Final product may be a little different. I'll see IF I got any pictures of them so you can see it. They definitely take up less space.

Well, it's 8:30AM Saturday and I have a 255ext to test. Oleg sent a 2013 255ext for evaluation/training and it landed here yesterday but I was tied up. I will hook it up and get working with it today. Later, I'll hook up with Mark and compare notes.

So off to find a plug, or pull one, or go buy one. I really like the 210ext, so we'll see how they compare.

First notes are, the packaging was great and no real damage and it was not as heavy as I thought it would me. Did not unwrap the plastic yet.

I hope the latest comments are not directed at my request for an update... That would be uncalled for. One of the beauties of a forum is the ability to respond at your convenience. And it is called a forum for a reason, so the information is available to all. To get defensive and attack would be poor customer service, especially since I/we have been so patient for so long. I am just inquiring about a product that your company has told me would be ready by now, and I have over $2000+ invested in. I do not believe I was rude, demanding, or in any way attacking, so again I would hope this response was not directed at me.

I can not comment on the USA time frame . I will leave that to others but I know I will be talking to the factory within the next two weeks to schedule a time frame for me to be there for these and other units to be produced . For Canada I expect likely mid October to be completed but I never like giving time frames because of any possible unforeseen circumstances developing especially when it comes to new model first production runs.

Update on this unit so far.

Mark and I chatted a bit this morning right after I posted that I received one for training. So far we agree on everything, he gave me some checks to make (wave forms, etc). I fired it up and setup two menu settings (AC and DC) but was pulled off to go look at a friends 53' trailer with some issues.

I hope get get back on it today, if not I will tomorrow. I did take a couple shots with the cover off. After I see how much junk is in the background I will edit and post them up.

So far very please with everything, looks and operations wise, just have to weld with it.

Thats's all I'm looking for, is the regular updates, even if its just an update to say that there isn't any update... We're all adults and this is business, there is no reason to make condescending remarks or personal attacks. Like I mentioned before, we've all been waiting for a long time, and I have seen too many comments made to people that are just looking for a more regular update. To hear about how busy somebody is is not acceptable, as a representative of a company, you should not take things personally. I believe in Everlast, otherwise I would have taken my money elsewhere back in February when the first delivery date of the new unit was missed.

Oleg, you run a good company with good products, please make sure your employees understand that regular communication is far better than no communication and insults to those that ask.

Oleg himself is responsible ultimately for communicating updates, no one else. If he tells us something we update it. If he doesn't we can't give information we don't have.

I would add that Duncan is not an employee. I and Mike aren't employees in the traditional sense...at least that's what my accountant tells me. I assume Mike's does too.

Thanks for the pics. Did you notice what brand caps were used? That fan looks pretty substantial, how is the noise level and is it a fixed speed, or does it vary with temp? Look forward to your review. Is this an actual production unit, or a pre-production sample?

I was thinking the same have it like a computers fan on the CPU's as it get hotter with demand it speeds up the fan and slows down after cooling it.

Guys,
On demand fans result in higher prices, lower duty cycles, and the potential for more failures. This isn't a computer sitting, in a nice cool place under your desk. It's a machine that is sitting in a high stress environment, in 120 degree heat and 95% humidity at times, (as Mike, mine and any body's shop is in the South East) drawing in smoke, ultra fine metal particles and dust. If your computer was in that environment, those on demand fans would be going full tilt. What's the expected life span of a computer as it is? After 3 or 4 years, the manufacturers WANT you to replace it. It isn't something we are going to do for the near future. It's not even in our plans for now.

Yes, it might be doable, but not something we feel is as pressing as other matters. Our goal is to keep the units running cool and keep the duty cycle that we advertise.

Quick update, my son ran the 2013 EXT today. Said it welds really nice (was all DC today). I thought it sounded like he had some arc start issues, but it was his helmet was down (batteries) and he was using one our old ones. So first report on DC was was all good. Was 1/8" 1" tubing.

I agree 100% with Mark. And it is 120 degrees OR 95% OR both here most of the year. He's not joking there.

I have no problem with the fan noise, I have a lot louder things I live with. The compressor charging when I am on the phone bugs me some, someone grinding when I'm on the phone does too. But that's sometimes how a shop works, at least for me.

I would rather not have on-demand and get a better duty cycle and know I will get (if I keep it clean and covered ) a lot more time/use out of my machine.
