Thread: PP205 my first machine!

  1. #1

    Default PP205 my first machine!

I'm basically brand new to welding. Plumber and Pipefitter by trade who's done a ton of brazing, but very little welding. Maybe 4 times in my life! Twice w/MIG, once w/stick and a single time w/TIG. Only needed to hold that TIG torch one time though to know what I wanted to do. Bunch of years later I finally scraped up some cash to get an affordable unit.

I'd really like to get good enough that I can utilize this skill at work. I also have a ton of stuff I'd like to build Motorsports wise. So that's the short of it, just gotta start practicing......whenever my PP205 actually arrives! I'll probably be making a separate thread pertaining to that.

I'll most likely be lurking and reading old threads looking for pointers. But, I may pop in with a question every so often.

I can't think of a word to express how excited I am! Hope this machine treats me well.

Congratulations on your new Green Machine! I can understand and relate to your excitement. Welcome to the forum. Cheers!
Is it OK to want to break something just so that you can weld it back together?

If you have done silver brazing on ac lines you will pickup tig welding with no problem, you will like the fact that you are able to control the heat. It will come easy on SS and mild steel aluminum will follow with a little more practice.

Not AC lines, but I've done alot of Medical Gas (1/4"-6"). TIG just feels right. And it doesn't hurt that every guy I know that TIG's in my trade can pretty much write their own ticket.
