Thread: 200DX Consumable starter pack

  1. #1

    Default 200DX Consumable starter pack

What is exactly included in the starter pack? I see that it has 2 back caps, a collet body, 3 collets and 3 different cups. My main question is what size are the collets/collet body? I am going to buy some tungsten and other consumables so I can start welding X-Mas morning with no waiting. I just need to know if I need to order 1/16 collets and tungsten if the ones that are included are 3/32 etc.

    Thanks for the help.

You will need some tungsten , i have more 3/32" than 1/16". I like the #6 and 7 Nozzles for what i do the best. you can get a combo pack of nozzles collets bodies ect from River Weld.
Here is a listing with a good starter variety of pieces for the 17 & 26 torch 261066819269. I order from them from time to time and it takes about a week to get here.

You will probably use more nozzles than other consumables but find what you use the most before you order to much.

I use 3/32 and 1/16 evenly I would think. Maybe a little more 1/16 than anything. I just want to know if the starter pack comes with collets that are 3/32, 1/16 or both. If either one is missing I will get them for the time being. I dont plan on buying a bunch of torch parts because I plan on changing the torch out to a CP20 in the very near future. I am just going to give some $ to the guy I do my welding at and take some of his supplies anyways, lol.

    Ahh ok. Thanks.

I guess the picture depicting the starter pack doesn't reflect the actual contents because it only shows one body and 3 collets. I will just get some tungsten and I will be good to go.

The 200DX I got came with 1.6, 2.0 and 2.4. Dunno what the heck the 2.0 is for, but the others are 1/16 and 3/32 respectively.

I ordered 1/16 tungstens when I first got the machine, and shortly found that I needed 3/32 more often, even working on thinner stuff. I'd say order the 3/32 if you're only ordering one, you can always sharpen them more acute if you find they're a bit big for an application. Kinda tough to thicken 1/16

Mine came with 2 caps, a 1/8 collet, 2 - 1/16 collet bodies, and #4 #5 #6 cups. I already had some others so it didnt really matter.

I also use 3/32 most of the time. I like 2% lan

They have the best prices I have found. Also you might want to check out the chem sharp. That stuff works great.

    ShaneJackson:

You didn't receive a 3/32 collet/body with your machine? If not that is strange that the starter packs are different on orders.

I only got one collet body, three collets (well, two and that 2.0), a 5, 6, 7 cup, full back cap and a nub.

Same with the WP20 I just got, one body, three collets, three cups 4,5,6 in that case, full back cap and a nub. Oh, and no hose ends like the description said...

No. It seems like you get what ever the person at the factory grabs... That or someone at amazon was playing around???? I was missing 1 collets so who knows. (I put 1/8 collet... ment collet body... same with the collets... said collet body.... long day)

Like I said it was no big deal as I had some others anyways. My advice is to pick some up from welding city when you buy your tungsten. They are cheap and that way you know you have what you need.

The torch and power of the machine determines if you get a 2.4 for 1/8" tungsten. Maybe someone screwed up an order. My 160 did not come with it since 3/32 is the max for it.

Weldingcity is a great place to shop, and riverweld as well. My picks if we do not have what you need.

A collet body, 2ea 3/32 collets, 2ea #4 cups, and a short cap with mashed threads. The bag was sealed, but I think it may have been returned previously (the 20A dryer plug was in the box too).

NO the plug is in the box still even though it isn't supposed to be. That is the newer style torch. Not sure why it is still there, or why exactly they have changed the cups/collets.

  14. Default

Yep, the plug was a good indicator that someone else returned the unit before me. I would expect any provided plug to be rated at least as high as the machine's input! Welder seems great otherwise.

No, you misunderstood. This is the same old style plug that was and has been included and the factory won't stop putting it in for some reason! It isn't a return. The welder shouldn't come with ANY plug, but the factory keeps sneaking these old Air Conditioner 20 amp plugs in. They must have bought a lifetime supply or something.

I hear you now. It's a free "gift" with every order.

Same pieces I got in my shipment.
