Thread: Thinking of a I-MIG 200.

    Default Thinking of a I-MIG 200.

I need a MIG welder in the worst way. Seriously.

Is the I-MIG200 worth it? How long is the lead?

    Thanks.

Absolutely. Having one myself, it is an excellent welder, making quality welds that will rival if not surpass any competition in its class. I believe the lead is about 10 foot on the torch. But the unit is portable and easily carried to the work.

Thanks. I have to do some more welding to my trailer when I mount the fender and build a roof rack. I've had about about all I can stnd of TIG welding everything.

When you get it, post an unboxing video or something along the lines of a review. I'm really thinking of getting a Mig setup too. All I have right now is a lift-start stick/tig unit. Although I haven't had the chance to tig with it yet. I'm finding stick to be a little more work, timewise and wasteful too. Great for welding outside but as soon as I get everything setup to weld inside, mig will be a better choice for the bigger projects.

Hope it all works out for you.

I will. I am paying for it in the morning. Bad part is, I go to work offshore for a month tomorrow as well. But as soon as I get in, I will do a video. And some welding right away. I have a co2 cylinder here already. And I am buying some wire online tomorrow as well.

Next thing I will buy will be a plasma torch.

I also picked up a Power Plasma 60. So now when I build my cart, I will have all 3 machines for the dimensions. And I wont have to rebuild it when I put the plasma on later.

I agree with Mark, the IMIG-200 is a great little machine (size to power). Not sure when I will ever part with it (we have a 205P and 250P as well), did an aluminum fence with it yesterday.

With the spool gun you can run aluminum wire or small steel spool and have a "VERY" long torch lead, which is a big plus. I think the stock ones are 10'-12' Traimet 15 right now. Good torch.

And the last plus for me, will run on 30 amps, so a fair size gas generator and flux core and you are mobile.

I bought the Tewco 15' torch, so I will have a spare. I also picked up a butt load of consumables for the PP60. I have learned my lesson about not having something when I need it.

Where did you pickup the MIG torch? Was it euro and ready to run? It is only a little longer than ours, but extra 3-5 feet means a lot sometimes.

A I-MIG200, w/ a 15' tweco torch, and a Power Plasma 60. Plus a bunch of other junk I ordered. I also bought some consumables for the MIG and plasma.

And I am hunting down a spool gun too. Any ideas?

You're going to need to get one from us on that. The backend is unique on the hookup since it uses the main gun connect (Euro) and the unit wire speed is controlled on the panel. It is built in the same factory as many of the Millers, but one of theirs wont' work on ours.

Why are spool guns so expensive? I'm not bashing Everlast guns, because they are more affordable, but some of the other companies can get expensive. I've wanted to get a spool gun to run flux core in the field. Is there really $500.00 and up worth of stuff in a spool gun? The cheapest Miller is only 12' long and I would think 20' would be the shortest you would want.

Always call Oleg to talk prices. He'll take care of you, and since an existing customer (remind him) he will work a deal most of the time. I know our spool guns are way more than 15' (guessing 20'). I use them sometimes when I do not want to flip larger trailers around due to the wire feed torch being too short.

"Spoolmate™ 3035 - Highly reliable and economical spool gun with excellent feeding to weld aluminum." - $609.11

How is a spool gun that costs $600 economical? When my MIG welder almost costs that much?
