Thread: can't get machine to work on aluminum at home

  1. Default can't get machine to work on aluminum at home

I can't seem to get this 185 to work on aluminum at home. Machine works at auto repair garage fine. Using On same circuit at home as my Dynasty which worked fine. Same extension cord I used on Dynasty. Using a 220v Dryer circuit. Tried everlast pedal/switch, everlast torch with regular lens/gas lens . Using 100% argon , tried the meter at 5,10,15

The arc is all over the place, won't puddle. Nothing do do with cleaning material or balance /freq

Same bottle of argon? It looks like you have no shielding or CO2 in it, or something. What are your settings?

The settings are around 11 bal / 3 o clock freq

you're right it looks like no shield. I bought 2 new argon tanks at the same time to use with this machine and what are the chances both are filled with something else? let me go see if i can get them refilled tomorrow.

Turn your balance down to about 9. Also what tungsten are you using for AC? I too believe it is a flow issue or a leak somewhere in the torch. or the line.

Hi I adjusted it all over the place, It will not make any kind of puddle. I am using the 1.5 lanthanated I was using on the dynasty.

Make sure the Tig Torch in the Negative connector, It still looks like a gas issue even though you can hear or feel gas thru the line make sure it is not kinked. I had a 17 torch that had a kinked hose and would weld good when laid out straight . Problem was when i picked it up over my arm the hose was trying to close and would restrict the gas flow.

Also one other thing try the frequency all the way up to the right and the balance all the way down to the left. Make sure the Argon regulator is set on about 6-7 LPM and check the parts in the torch to make sure everything is in correctly and nothing broke or bad O ring collet ect

You say this machine works fine at another location, so what is different? Argon bottle, torch, regulator? Or did you transport everything? You could do a few basic checks for argon leaks.

Check and make sure the back cap is not leaking. What did you not bring home from the shop, just the argon?

Hey Everlast guys, would a dirty or inconsistent power supply mess with the welders operation like this?
