Thread: DIY Tig Torch Cable Covers?

  1. Question DIY Tig Torch Cable Covers?

Those of you who've upgraded to light-weight flexible torch cables like CK WorldWide's SuperFlex cable, how have you made a durable, yet lightweight cable cover to protect this investment? I was thinking of using some leather via sewing some Velcro on the inside, but wanted to ask you more experienced folks first. Sharing pics of your cable creation would be GREAT too! .

I'm doing just that. I'm waiting for my source to get me the right color (trying to get close to Everlast Green) in a ~2oz chrome tanned leather. Will run a narrow velcro, prob 1/2". As long as it's good quality leather, it shouldn't be much stiffer than the cable itself. going with something like goatskin or lambskin would make it even more flexible.

For now, I'm running it bare, but I suspend my cable from my cart, so it's not dragging on the floor, goes from the cart to my arm.

I use Varflex fiberglass insulated sleeving. It's fire resistant and super soft and flexible.

I'm not sure where to even look. I've been working on the same spool for 30 years.

The company is still making this stuff, though.
