Hello everyone, Looking to add a tig to my shop once I complete a mill rebuild I am doing now. Have minumal experience with a tig so looking for an easy to understand machine that has few problems inits history. My expierience is with the blue machines but I only own a mig.

TIG is a lot different over MIG. MIG is fast and sort of easier.

We have a PMicro185. Simple setup (few knobs), aluminum and steel up to 185AMP. You can get iit n a 110/220VAC model. I hate 110 for welders though. But it's an option for some.

That would be a good starter machine. I have always liked the 225LX and 250EX, but the price is up there over the 185, but so are the advanced features.

Also, the 200DX has been upgraded. But the DX, LX and EX you get into all the knobs though you do not have to use them and that's not a bad thing to have.

Another digital pick, is the 210EXT. I have one and love it. I still cling to the 2250EX, but I will let it go and stay with the 210EXT eventually.

If you are steel work only, the 160STH is a nice machine too and easy on the pocket to get started.

Give us so more details on what you plan to weld. But I say BIGGER is better.

The 185 micro is about the simplest tig machine I've ever used. I'm happy with mine, but eventually would like to upgrade to a 250 amp machine with pulse. It really depends on what bells and whistles you want/need.

I went with the PT 200DX. Initially I was going to go wth the 185, but decided that at some point I would like to learn pulse and wanted something I could grow into so went with the 200 over the 185.

So far, I really like the PT 200 DX, just need to get more hood time.

Keep us posted on what you end up with. There are many on this forum willing to help and offer suggestions.

Hello Again, I understand the complexities of TIG,having been around welders alot . I want the ability to weld up to at least 1/4 aluminum. I think the 210 will fit my requirements. I don't believe I will spend for a Miller. To be upfront,I am also looking at HTP machines as well and weighing all that I can find out about both. I almost prefer knobs myself. Menus are easily forgotten for infrequently used items.

Might want to look at the 225LX then as well. The menu, seems one set it is more turning the AMP knob of both for me, unless using pulse. And that is rare for me. If you surf back 3 or 4 years on the forum, you will see how much I liked the 225LX, took years to go to the 250EX, both are great machines. I have the 210 and a 250, I was shocked that I did like the digital display, though it is nice to see the knobs if something does not look right.

I have a 200DX ... I'm really happy with it ... I thought about a larger unit but then I realized with the larger I would need a water cooled torch also the panel on the 200DX is so easy to use and you can tell at a glance what your settings are.
