Thread: Powerplasma 80 dead

  1. Default Powerplasma 80 dead

    Please help with diagnosis of why it died.. I used it for a month and then a loud pop it died.
    What are the possible causes and fixes?

    More info. What were you doing when you heard the loud "pop". Where did the "pop" come from.

    Best bet is to call tech support.

    I'm guessing it is a power resistor,,usually a ceramic core with wire wrapped around it,,,similar to a ballast resistor the used to be mounted on the firewall in some cars,,,when the heavy wire blows it make a loud popping sound or a bang in some cases....it will be located near the power input end of the machine,,,a low cost item but it requires tech skill to resolder one in place,,,look for black discoloration inside and it should appear on the resistor if that is the problem,,likely have to be shipped out for repair.
