You might want to look at the iMIG-200. Small, and packs a bunch for the size. Run great on a small generator or 30 amp circuit.
The price is not too bad. On our MIGs, old or new, they are all rock solid, a new one will be cosmetic changes and maybe a feature.

When I was a kid we used to go to a place called 6 gun territory. Same thing, staged gun fights and fall from a roof. That would be a cool job.

Ill have to look into leathers if I ever take on stick welding. I briefly attempted a couple weeks ago with 6011 and I sparks and molten metal flying everywhere and the weld looked like about $12 an hr on the bubba scale. But I learned that I was running way too low amps to stop it from sticking on 1/8" 6011. I went right back to tigging.

6011 is good for welding on old rusted farm stuff but with clean metal, 7018 not as harsh as 6011. I still have a lot to learn about stick welding but it is not that bad for many applications. Try some 7018 if you have access to it, I prefer the Lincoln Excalibur brand because I have had better luck having the slag come off with less effort than Hobart. But for speed, I it is hard to beat a MIG welder.

Stick is cheaper, but we have pretty much gone MIG for almost everything. Just use flux core if it is windy. We have many lbs of 60 and 70 just sitting, but most was free.
