HF welding cart

I purchased a Harbor Freight welding cart the other day. Needed one for the new tig welder. I was not sure it would work but with a coupon it was only $25.00 dollars. It was well worth the money as it worked very well with some light modifications. You have to drill a few holes to make it work. The one photo shows the holes moved back one inch to allow the cooler to fit on the bottom shelf. Also had to cut out the back for the air that is exiting the water cooler. I also attached two hangers from Home Depot to hold the torch. I used both brackets that came with the cart on the other side to hold the ground clamp. Also had to drill new holes at the front of the middle shelf to make that work. The only thing I need to finish would be a 5 foot velcro strap for the Tig machine to keep it on the cart just in case.

That cart is one of the best deals going...especially with the coupon. I have 2 of them. One for my plasma cutter and one one for the tig machine.

$25, it is hard enough to pick up metal cheap enough these days to make something to compete with something like that. I have a cart on my project list but it is a must to hold a 225 or 330 CF bottle. If that is not needed the HF cart is not too bad of an option.

Actually, with some better wheels on the cart it'll hold a large bottle. On one of my carts, i did just that. The bottom tray is stout enough to hold a large bottle.

Wow, that cart is only $25.00? I've never even seen that in my local HF! It looks fantastic in blue with the Everlast welders sitting on it too!

Did you have to paint it blue, or did it come in blue? I thought that (practically) all HF items came in that ugly orange until I bought a piece of equipment that was maroon in color. Now I see they are all over the board with colors on their merchandise!

I was at HF today, a guy was looking at these blue carts, which I have (1). I told him they were a decent buy for a mig unit (I have my Miller on one).. he said 'cool, thanks....they're $25........'
I thought he misheard the salesman or something.. and I went on my way..

so this is very interesting, I'll check my coupons and see if I have one and go get one tomorrow.....good gift for a friend with a Lincoln Mig...

Yes they are blue. The coupon that has the cart also has a 20 percent coupon ontop of the page. You can not get it from the store flyer. It was in my diesel magazine.

That's just how I think about sewing too! It's so funny when men I know make fun of sewing (I hear all the lines of "Hey Martha, can you bake me some cookies and knit me a wool hat too?, etc). They always complain when I tell them how much it costs for upholstering something, so I tell them "If you think it's such a ripoff, why don't you go out and buy your own machine...And then teach yourself to use it...Like I did!" They always stare at me blankly, probably wondering if they should have asked about getting their project done before making fun of men who sew!

I had no idea that you could get anything in blue at HF. That cart doesn't appear to be overly stout, but it looks like it's handling your Tig and water cooler just fine. How does it roll with all that weight on it?

Here's a picture of one of my carts with the better wheels on it. That's my DIY tig torch water cooler on it. Works like a charm.

It also came with a free screw driver set. Gave that to the wife to tighten up all the handles that keep comming loose in the kitchen.

The cart rolls fine on my floor. I would not roll it outside alot. If ou use your welder everyday this my not be for you. But for a home owner this is the best deal you can get.
