Thread: PP256 (2013) Stainless Weld Pictures

  1. Default PP256 (2013) Stainless Weld Pictures

Lets starts off by saying i was a bit aggravated about the pre-order stuff, paid in early December 2012. Then when i received the machine the box and machine was destroyed.

EVERLAST did a awesome job of getting me return postage and getting me a new machine ASAP! The shipping damage wasn't their fault (UPS is horrible), but they took care of the situation without me having to deal the the shippers. So I would like to give them props on my first dealings with their customer service team!

PS: The regulator is not working, so i had to use my own regulator for the test. Also i dont have a water cooler hooked up, so i just used the air-cooled WP9 25' torch i ordered with my machine. Come to find out the aircooled torch didnt come with the 9mm quick lock fitting for the argon connection on the front of the machine. Im going to see if they can send me a fitting and a clamp later today. So with said, i had to bypass the machine and hook the torch directly to the bottle so after my welds i had to turn reg off every time (annoying)

So after all the delays and shipping issues, i finally got the new welder in yesterday and tested the machine

Enough Talk - Heres the pictures...

First welds with the machine, very smooth!

Some are with pedal, some are with torch switch, some with no pulse, some with pulse.

I didn't really have the size filler wire i wanted/needed, so the welds could have looked better with the right stuff

Haven't tried AC yet, waiting to build the water cooler, then ill hook up the water cooled torch and do some testing

Very please with machine so far!

    THANKS EVERLAST!!!

Welcome, AJ! Sorry to hear you had a rough start thanks to the freight carrier, but Everlast makes it right, as you found out.

Welds are looking good, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess you may have welded before. (Kidding of course.) What kind of things are you working on?

Aj, simply remove the fitting from the water cooled torch for now (the one supplied). We don't supply clamps as they are a one use factory type thing. A small hose clamp or spring loaded fuel line clamp will work. Some people have used twisted stainless wire for a clamp. There's very little pressure on the fitting while the gas is flowing...the friction of the hose barb alone will probably hold it. We'll send you whatever you need. The regulator was one of the newer brass colored ones? What was not working about it?

    Thanks Dave

Yeah I'm an engineer for a conveyor company here in FL, we custom design and fabricate material and product handling conveyors for the food and beverage industry (mostly 304 or 316 stainless) I started in the shop before I started doing the CAD work ( welding > CAD ) Its funny when we hire these new guys that think they can weld, then they see this "office" kid come out there and lay down welds better then they can do, haha. I bought this unit for my shop at the house. I build drag cars and parts for myself and all my buddies, so it will keep me from having to go to my "business shop" to build everything. Im excited to test my skills on the this machine, ready to try some AC aluminum for sure!!!!

Yah I'm familiar with that style OEM spring clamp, I have pincer clamps at the house for those clamps actually... I knew i wasn't going to be using the water cooled torch until i got the water cooler built, so i didn't want to cut off the fitting on the one that's already correct. Its not big deal man, if y'all could get me the fitting when you get a chance that would be great, if you cant supply the OEM style clamp, ill just order it on McMaster today. I know a regular clamp or hose clamp will work, i just like the look of the OEM style pincer clamps

The regulator wont flow argon! Iv hooked it up to the bottle, turn on main valve. The pressure gauge reads the bottle has pressure. Then i adjust the flow valve to set my flow out of the regulator and nothing happens... i maxed the flow valve out both directions and still nothing. I disconnected the regulator and inspected it some, couldn't really find anything wrong. The large nut the houses the plunger assembly or w/e you want to call it. i took it off and blew thru the reg. and it flowed air... so i tightened it all back up and no flow again... so i decided to just barely loosen the large nut assembly and it will flow gas like that, just doesnt seem right to me.. The reg appeared to be the all brass units

    Thanks performance for your help

Ok. That is the new style. Several other name brand companies use the same one now as we are using. It's a higher quality. I guess it's better than leaking(safer). You'll need to call ext 202 or if you can't reach that number 201 and tell them what you need or are missing. The regulator and the fitting will be sent to you.
