Thread: new 250EX/HW20 handpiece

  1. Default new 250EX/HW20 handpiece

I just got my 2013 250EX . I had a Miller syncrowave 250 which I loved but in my work weld a lot of thin stainless and have been having trouble with excess heat/distortion so bought the 250EX mainly for the pulser. I didn't much like the supplied handpiece and wanted to use my ESAB HW-20 handpiece as I have lots of gas lens, etc. from .040" to .125". I didn't want to shell out three hundred bucks like this guy :

So I made my own adapter to use what I had. I robbed the switch out of the supplied handpiece and zip tied it to the HW-20. I have a Barnard water cooler so used it as well. The 250 EX seems to work great (after I set the point gap from about .075" to .032").Click image for larger version.

    Welcome aboard Marvin,

I have the same cooler. It's a beast (almost as loud as the welder). Nice mod on the welder and torch. CKs are expensive, but the super flex hoses are nice.

I couldn't find one so I machined it up myself. BTW, it works great, love the 250EX!
